PS1/2 First PSX modchip install help please

Okay so i installed the mod chip correctly i think (but obviously not

) but when ever i started it up. the laser/cd-drive
Just doesn't work lol Thought i may have shorted it but when i completely removed the chip from the contacts everything worked perfectly

And I'm 99% sure I attached to correct leads

But since i had no wire trimmers i had to use a fingernail clipper wich put score lines in the wire and made them break free from the actual chip easy... (but they were on when i tested it)

So i got annoyed and for 2 wires i burned the plastic off


So what messed up?

1. My Install?
2. I burned the chip with the soldering iron?
3. the burned wire isn't transferring the current?
4. The chip came blank?


P.S. PSX is a bitch to install to... even with a 30 AWG Kynar wire the wire is barely smaller than some contacts

EDIT: It's working NOW!!!!

Tryed it for the second time and using a retention contact worked one of the pins on the chip broke (pin 5) and thought i had to order another one but now i don't

Would a mod please close this thread?
