I've decided to start a very small and quick translation project for Fire Emblem 12, the latest Fire Emblem installment on the DS. If you don't know much about FE12, research it. XP

First of all, this will only be a very basic translation--names and maybe some menus and crap. Reasons why are 1) I don't have tons of time to spare 2) I'm not a very good hacker 3) I don't have a translator which is why I can't translate menus yet 4) the game will be released in the U.S. anyway so there's not much reason to care for major translation.

With that being said I've started a blog on it and will update it as I get more stuff done. I expect a patch within 3 days and idk what'll happen after that but I don't plan on spending more than a week hacking FE12.

Please don't bash on how making such a small translation is pointless, if anyone wants to play it then they can, if you think it's pointless then just don't play it. Thanks for the understanding...

UPDATE: Translation Patch V1.0 is out. Please comment and enjoy. FYI I got it released on the same day the actual game was released.

... it is Fire Emblem 12 ( as in, the 12th Fire Emblem game ).

It's a enhanced remake of Fire Emblem - Monshou no Nazo ( the 3rd one ).

Oh, I've seen your screenshots, and I just saw "Jeigun" ... can I suggest you use the names from Shadow Dragon instead? :x

Good luck with the project!

^Compared to other good hackers, I am not very good. If you compare me to all the other Fire Emblem hackers, I guess I'm kinda good.

This isn't Fire Emblem 12...

Sure it is. Look it up on a site. It's the 12th installment in the series, and it'll hopefully be the 5th FE to be released out of the U.S.A. In due time, of course. Until then, I'm going to make a crappytranslation patch.

Yeah, that was just temporary to make sure I could do it and I tried to use as many letters in his spelling as possible. Heheh. It'll be changed to "Jagen", no worries. XD

And thanks to everyone else who commented.

Hahahaha that's quite... expectant of you.

Good news. The translations are going well. I've finished all the class names, character names, and most of the statsheet. I'm going to do item/weapon names next and I'm going to quickly look into editing the menu graphics. I can't do much else besides that because I don't have a translator working with me--yes, this is a totally solo project, and no, I don't really speak Japanese, I can only read Katakana and make inferences about what stuff says.

Here's a video although it's quality isn't great:

Check out romhacking dot net's forums and see if some members would be willing to help in the script/translations section. Usually smaller stuff people are happy to help with. Don't come out with sheets, just bits at a time, maybe you'll find some quicker help.

I am very surprised at the promptness of the start of this translation. I mean I only found the rom yesterday. I am glad that you of all people are translating this. This will be done very well and not incredibly slowly like a lot of other translators. Good luck!

Try changing this game's font file with the one in the English version of the previous game before you release the patch. This should fix all the problems you have with lower-case letters but Japanese letters may not show up at all...

Ah, too bad I saw your post too late, Noitora. I guess I could've looked into fixing it buuuuut, I don't feel like it right now. Maybe if 20 other people bug me to do it I'll do it. :\

@Celice Too late for your idea too. I guess I should check these forums more often. Thanks for the suggestion though, if I were trying to make a better translation I'd probably go with what you said. XP

Well anyway, the letter problem aside, the translation patch is out.

You can find it on the downloads page. Please comment and the such if you found it useful (personally I just like the idea of playing a somewhat english game as opposed to a totally Japanese game). Enjoy Fire Emblem 12.
