Another person asking for a game that's already available in English.

Well, I didn't ask for this to be done here, and I don't know how you read that somehow as a request here for this team in particular, especially with architectures between PS2 and GC varying wildly from the MIPS r3000 used in PSP/PS1 games. (and it would be a restoration hack then, not a translation, thus not fitting the criterias for suggestions to begin with)

I thought we were discussing people fan-translating PS2 Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and games with a Japan-only enhanced version (I saw FFX International and FF XII mentioned here) ... what happened? Talking about this subject at all is a request?

I assume I can't speak about Absolute Zero's progress with Tales of Destiny PS2 remake or Tales of Phantasia PSP, or how they were considering to port the PSP sprites to the already-translated PS1 version, or how KH: Birth by Sleep Final Mix already got a fan-translation, or about importing the uncensored scripts for Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger's GBA/DS ports to the censored SNES version... because then you would somehow understand this talk as necessarily being a request to Sky, a wizard who can somehow pull out translations out of his magical hat?

GHANMI you know why you are not allowed to mention trans besides what that person wanted
It is because that person wants only what they want mentioned get my point ;)

I would prefer it maybe sky did the English trans of tales of symphonia for the PS2 instead of the gc myself
and yes I know someone did the menu but a lot is not done at all

Well, IDK, we can always have a look at that Agito F2P game (I know I'll do :P).

I don't discard the possibility of doing a translation port (as I said, I already did one for FFI PSP), but I think another full localization of a never released game (outside Japan) would be more appealing for fans. The next project to carry out depends on many factors, but be sure I read all possible suggestions and take them into account.

I'd like it if people suggested more translations of games that never made it here, is all. While I don't personally care about PSP2i and find it easily playable without English text, I can at least see why people would want it. I just don't understand why people want MORE translations of games that are already done and officially released in America when there's entire, great games that no one can play. I could probably come up with a list of >100 games that have never seen English release that should be enjoyed by everyone before I would turn around and go 'but yeah, lets translate some extra content for a game that anyone can play already'.

For example, Monster Hunter [dos] is the best game in the series. It never made it here. But MHF2 on PSP did, so I don't see the point in asking for an MH2 translation even though it's a technically better game. Get me?

I get your point but just like with FF12 it is faster and easier to trans something that is done part way already but yes I agree something new to states is a lot better but a longer process and harder ;)

Why did i use this example because most of FF12 is used to do the auto trans in ff12engzjs
The patch even needs the FF12 disk and ff12zjs to make new

It would be nice if someone would at least translate episode 2 of psp2i. Or translate Star Ocean Blue Sphere, or even Last Bible III. So many games that should have been released outside of Japan... It makes me sick. In the head. I MUST DESTROY!

You should just learn Japanese at this point.
Narikiri Dungeon/Star Ocean Blue Sphere are obtusely coded, a translation is very unlikely.
Besides, those are pretty obscure, even Phantasy Star. There are other much more high profile games not yet translated in fact for the PSP alone.

Ahh... the Star Ocean saga... Such a challenge: I hacked both PSP Star Ocean games, and they were crazy. Actually they use the same engine used in Valkyrie Profile, game that I ended up translating in Spanish. The only think I don't like from Blue Sphere is the platform :/

Just checking in to give a little more detail about what we've been doing:

1) Editing passes on the S.O.s, Requests, Items, Abilities, Tutorials, and the Crimson Codex. This may seem trivial and unnecessary because you saw some finished-looking text in the last video, but every line of text you saw in that video has been polished since the video was released. This takes time, but the increase in quality and comprehension is huge if you ask us.

2) Editing NPC text. This gets its own bullet-point because it's a ton of work!

3) Editing COMM text for length, so they don't extend halfway across the screen and obscure the action.

4) Image and video editing.

5) A lot of other smaller things that add up.

This doesn't mean that once we're done with these things, we're done overall. There's still more to do after that! But we'll talk about those things when we get to them.

We're making good use of the time we've allotted for ourselves, and we want to be able to be proud of this once we're done with it. We can't guarantee you'll like the game, but we hope you like the words in it! :)

Talking about that - with me coming from a place where American Spanish is spoken, I would like to know if you're open to build patches for converting games from European Spanish to American. You know, the script is posted, someone translates it, then you patch it back. Most of the time, it should suffice with a regex to switch common Spain regionalisms, then giving it a proofread, so it shouldn't be that difficult I hope.

I wish I had the time and the teacher to learn Japanese, but that is currently out of the question.

The process of translating Blue Sphere has been established, but the game's script is still in need of being translated or at least dumped.

Well, that is interesting. I sure hope somebody helps him. I would learn Japanese myself, but I do not have the time or the teacher, as I am leaving for the United States Marine Corps training this summer. Even if i got the military job "Linguist", I would probably start learning languages that would benefit the Corps. I don't think Japanese is at the top of the list, and it would probably be awhile before I could initiate learning it.

OMG... I've been watching that guy's Star Ocean Blue Sphere translation site for YEARS. Like.... 4 at least. I always imagined he'd be deep into it - at least halfway done by now. I guess he's had trouble since I last talked to him all those years ago when he announced the project.

of course it matters. the date was nothing final as they said id could be sooner and (however unlikely) later :-)

I love how the the team releases a release date to calm down the fans and cool down the "when will it be out" questions, and it still isn't enough for some people. The percentages rarely got updated before the date was announced, and now that they have set one, I'm sure they are more worried on making progress then they are displaying the progress at every 1% interval. As of right now, we should all see it as it will be released on August 8th. If it comes out sooner, then it should be viewed as a pleasant surprise, and if it's later, I'm sure we will be informed ahead of time. That's the only updates anyone should be concerned with, at this point. Otherwise, what was the point of giving a date??

A translation recommendations thread might be a good idea to separate the requests from the current translation thread. Not that it bothers me personally -- I just think it might help Sky a little bit by keeping this thread focused on the task at hand, while allowing everyone else to go full bore with their recommendations.

Honestly, you don't need a teacher to learn a language. What you need is willpower, perseverance, and the motivation to learn it in the first place.
I learnt Hiragana and Katakana (the Japanese alphabet) in a week and a half with just a single book. If I could do it, anyone can. :)

:rofl2: It's funny because it's true! :rofl2:

People are just excited and impulsive about it. You get the feeling everyone's on the edge of their seats with this....
