i suck at keeping up but whats 0.6.8a is that just for editing or is it a patch that should allow me to keep up with the curve or what? =\

oh ok, thank you sir I wasn't fully into it and stuff i just kinda want the final product cause i'm anxious to play, thank you for the answer

OK i havent had much luck with this at all. Ive downloaded a few roms. not sure if they are clean or not, failry new to the ds roms. But if i go to load just that rom on an emu, it gives me an message popup in game in jap of course saying something about off and ds. I done as the read me said, and went to run it, it wouldnt even load then.

Maybe i have a bad rom or something.
Yahoo name is mooglebass if you have any tips

I just patched the rom and it worked like a charm. The ReadMe was extremely helpful. The only confusing part was the patching... But I eventually got it, load the rom under ISO file and load the .ppf file under Patch. The .ppf file can be found in the ffta2_eng_0.2.4 you download and it's titled "patch_with_ppfomatic".

At first, I was quite disappointed since when I started a new game, all of the dialogue was still in Japanese. But that first battle level/tutorial had menus and the jobs in english so I know I patched it right. I'm really looking forward to some updates on this, mainly with the story and dialogue. Thanks a lot for the people who worked on this project!

For those people who don't want/can't figure out how to use the FFTA2 Editor to patch the translation I've created an IPS patch that will update a clean rom to where the translation was on Dec 30 2007. I've also included Snestool so that you may apply the patch --

1. Download http://www.files.to/get/157138/sjernybixt CAUTION: this file is about 60mb decompressed it's closer to 100mb
2. Extract the files into a folder using 7zip, winrar or whatever you have that can decompress 7zip files
3. copy a clean FFTA2 Rom into that folder aswell
4. run Snestool, and choose the "Use IPS" option
5. Select the IPS patch in the folder (should only be one), then select the clean rom
6. there you go

note: some people may need to apply an arm7 fix to get this to work with their flash carts (for example cyclods) if you are one of these people and don't know how to do it I suggest befriending Google
You know a 100mb IPS patch for a 128Mb game is like giving the game rom !
I think this is a really bad idea, and I'm asking you to stop talking about it here.
I'll soon release a patch with the latest translation (a 500kb one).

I am also wondering if it will be fully translated, or are we going to have to wait for an official North American release

Seriously ? Don't you feel it's already great that you are able to have a full gameplay translation while you've done no effort ? People are too grateful these days... Our translators have already achieved a tremendous translation effort to get there and make it seems like a little afternoon of work...

I'm grateful that I can read some of the stuff in my native language....its nice...really.

Personally though, in addition to the translation, I am impressed with how you actually hack the rom and go about replacing the menus/spells/character names/monster names/area names. Knowing where to look after extracting everything and finding where it is supposed to go? Thats just damn cool. You deserve a case of damn good beer.

ot: deufeufeu how did you start at hacking roms? Did you start with older systems and work your way up? Or do you just dabble in everything?

no I just started with the ds. But there's nothing to brag about because I'm mostly relying on long studies and a strong theoretical background. If I was 14 I could brag... But right now it's just knowledge and sweat...

I'm sorry if I'm missing something cause I guess I probably am but I thought there was a post where you said you were doing the story part as well and I just kinda figured since you have so many projects this will probably be "sorted out" by like march or something (although its wishful thinking since thats my birth month lol)

I'm not translating anything so I will not translate the story. BUT I've written an editor that allows anyone to translate the story, so from me nothing new could come, this project has gone has far as it should. The only thing remaining is a nasty bug I'm yet to fix when ending some missions.

Didn't mean to offend you or anything. Was just asking a simple question, I was unsure if a full translation was in the works, or just someone making an app to allow someone else to translate the rest of the game.

Again, no offense. and I am not ungrateful, I haven't even used your app, or any of the translation thus far. Again, was just asking a question.

Nice work on the app, and I appreciate your time and sweat.

Thanks.
