Homebrew FBI takes hours to install CIAs

Oh, I see. I installed DevMenu to NAND in FBI, but it doesn't show up on the menu, even though FBI reports the installation as successful. Same with BigBlueMenu, it appears to install fine, but it doesn't show up on the menu.
IIRC that happened to me too? Try exiting and re-entering emuNAND.

It's alright. I felt kinda stupid too when I first set up emuNAND and was getting used to it.

I tried with both DevMenu and BigBlueMenu, tried various combinations of installing to NAND and SD card, and nothing works. On the SD card the apps crash, and on the NAND they don't even show up.

Install big blue menu. I have it and it installed 12gb of cia files in about 4 hours. It all depends on the speed class of your memory card. Mines a sdxc U1 class. If you have a class 4, get rid of it and get a class 10 speed card or higher.

install them to sd using NASA, or even better, install SOON!2 it is the faster cia installer out there and it should work fine.

I have a Sandisk 64GB sd card formatted to FAT32 and I faced the exact same problem as the OP using FBI and installing "Resident Evil Revelations" on a New 3DS (even the slow system after the install or cancel).
However when I booted the 3DS without the AC plugged in and reinstalled the same CIA with FBI all was fast and normal.
So it might be a bug somewhere either with FBI or the 10.6 firmware, but it's kinda strange that some people are not affected by this.

I installed NASA on my SD, worked fine. Installed BigBlueMenu on my SD, and it shows on my home screen, but when I start it it gives me "An error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart."

Installing it to NAND just makes the software now show up on the home screen at all.

Maybe your SD card is heavily fragmented? I'd try to backup contents and format card using "SD Formatter" with format type: Full (Overwrite). But it will take hours.

The card was in a laptop previously, which was used for surveillance, so I had about 150000 files in my picture folder. It's quite possible you may be correct here, I'll try this out tomorrow when I have the time to just leave it formatting.

What? It's no way normal. I installed bravely second(3-3,5GB?) on my 64GB microSD class 10 in 45 minutes, so it's NOT normal to take lots of time for an installation. Don't listen to him.
Yeah 45-50ish is what I believe big games take me to install. Doesn't FBI do like 1 MB/s? It was like that on my O3DS anyway.

Forgot to post, but I did solve the problem. I made a backup of my SD card on my computer, used an SD formatter to competely zero-write my SD card, then restored the backup again. Problem solved, now works pefectly.

its all fine and normal. the bigger the sd and the closer to being full they were, the longer it took for me to install stuff with both fbi and bbm.

while 12 hours is a bit much, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a lot of file fragmentation going on. sadly, there's little you can do about it other than moving on to a bigger sd (during the move, you pretty much get rid of all current fragmentation so stuff gets better for a while.)

It shouldn't be taking more than 10-15 mins to install cias with Any installer, make sure your card is not a fake.
What? What? What? What? Installation time varies on the size of the .CIA. Bravely Default/Second take both 40-45 minutes because they are 3GB. I want to see you installing Bravely Second in 15 minutes. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
