Hacking Fake IEdge maybe?

Just got an IEdge yesterday and I'm running into a few problems. I tried to solve my issues by looking at the forums and nothing I try seems to work. There are somethings that seem odd to me though. I was wondering if anyone could perhaps tell me if my IEdege might be a fake; I don't have pics, but let me give some descriptions of the card.

It's a grey card. When I open it up, it does not say 'IEdge' anywhere on the chip, and I cannot seem to locate the LED light on the card. The MicroSD slot is spring loaded and when I bootstrap it with the requisite ROM (0363 - Puzzle Series Vol. 3 - Sudoku (J).nds), the icon I get is not the Sudoku icon, it's a 'Danny Phantom: Urban Jungle' icon, which I thought was an ACEKARD 2i attribute. When I select the icon, it simply says something to the effect of 'missing file' So, any thoughts on if this is fake or not?

FYI, I have looked up how to install the bootstrap and load the OS from a few different sources.

Bought it from Alibaba.com..... I'll admit, some red flags went up for me, but I took a chance. I'm just hoping someone has some answers for me. What does a real IEdge look like?

damn....well, might it still work on my DSi if i install the ACEKARD 2i software and such?..or can it be used as a flashcart for DS/DSL?....I'm thinking I'm screwed but ima try....lol

Post a picture of the cart itself...Also, if it's an Acekard clone, I don't think AKAIO 1.6 will run on it, find the cracked AKAIO 1.5.1

it could be a real acekard with the wrong sticker on it (stickers are shipped to retailers separately so that kinda mixup can happen) - its worth trying akaio 1.6 first.

then if that doesnt work, go back to an older version or the official firmware or something.

If the iEDGE is GRAY/BLACK and with in the center of the triangle package 'IEDGE' and no sticker 'i compatible' than is is FAKE.

The real ones are white. with a sticker 'i compatible'.

The software for the FAKE is sooo ungly !!!

I returned my FAKE cards to my supplier.

Somewhat good news...found an article explaining quite clearly the difference between the real and fake and how to tell:

Fake iEDGE and how to tell them apart

But the bad news...from the boxes themselves it's virtually impossible to tell, you kind of have to be holding one to figure it out

Does anyone know how to tell them apart from the packaging or similar before buying? If you do please post it around and e-mail it around so we can share. Beat the fakes!

- On the front of the box there are two logo's 'IEDGE', one on the top front and one between te lines
- The card is black
- The elastic band is blue on both sides

- The real box has only one logo between the lines on the box (http://www.edge-ds.cn/)
- The card is WHITE (on the website the card is black because it would be black in the future, I think that's why the fakes are black..)
- The elastic band is grey on one side and blue on the other

I have contacted the guys of the orginal ones and told them perhaps it would be better to put a white card one on their site, but they are afraid that in a short time the fakes become white also.
