So I've updated the kernel to 1.04e, game save data seems to be fine as long as I wait the 5 seconds before shutting down. But every time I turn the console off and on again, the EZ Flash Jr's internal clock resets to 2000/1/1 at 00:00, meaning I have to manually set the clock every time I boot it up. Anybody else have this issue? Are there any known fixes? I've looked around and haven't really seen anybody discussing this issue.

Before someone mentions the battery, I had the system powered on for over an hour before turning it off for the first time. So I can't imagine it's a dry battery issue from a new cartridge, but idk.

how does having the system powered on for an hour prevent it from being a dry battery issue?

The EZ-FLASH Junior uses a small CR1220 battery to simultaneously power the RTC and SRAM. This power supply starts from the time of manufacture. If the card is left in logistics or at the dealer for more than three months, it may experience insufficient battery power.

Maybe you should do the thing with the plastic tab that stops the battery from connecting until the customer pulls it out.
