Hacking EZ-flash IV Save problems

Hi!

I have an EZ-flash IV micro sd and a gameboy micro. I installed ezfla_up.bin (turn on, hold R and all those steps). Then I used the EZ4 client version 1.03 to copy my games over (Advance Wars with "add save patch" checked). The game starts fine, plays perfect, then I saved (in-game) and exit. I turned it back on later, no saves... I had to start over. I did it again a couple times, but it seems like the game just doesn't save. What am I doing wrong? Does the EZ4 client automatically detects the type of save?

Can you try another game or two. Advance Wars 1 and 2 have given people issues in the past. I thought they were resolved but better to eliminate that as the problem before we going chasing batteries or something.
