Hacking external dvd rom

hi all.

please could someone assist me I want to connect my external dvd rom to the wii as my internal drive is a bit crazy because if i insert a disk it just switches off and if the disk is still in it will not power on unless i eject the disk.

So my question is there a loader that will play from a external dvd drive?
and how do i set it up

Going by this comparison chart, uloader and usb loader GX should support using an external USB DVD-drive. I haven't tried this feature, so I have no idea how to use this feature. It probably isn't much more than selecting the USB DVD-drive, and a cIOS to use with it.


...but that's a strange error you've got with your DVD drive, man.

I doubt a external dvd will read pressed wii discs
and suggest using a harddrive instead

They stopped selling drives that were compatible with Wii discs a long time ago, so I'm unless the OP bought a used one on ebay, I'm gonna say it's not compatible.
