All cartridges pictured here:

I am aware that the EZ Flash Parallel failed to meet expectations but I was wondering how the other cartridges stack up in terms of ROM compatibility.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks!

I think DSONE/DSONEi has the best ROM compatibility.
DSONE has the common issue with PSRAM. DSONEi doesn't have this problem, it's also my favorite flashcard.

Oh I see you have an EZP. I found out how to fix one of it's issues:

The sleep issue is a hardware design flaw. Their board PCB does not have the IRQ pin connected to ground. Retail game's card ejection routine relies on detecting when IRQ pin goes open. When booted with the pin already open it seems to break sleep mode for most games.

Soldering a wire to connect it to ground as it should will resolve the issue. This type of fix should fix a few other flashcarts with similar problems too like the R4DS Pro. ;)

They're all pretty much the same for just about everything, aren't they?

The major differences would be things like SDHC capability and whether they can circumvent the DSi/3DS blacklist on stock units. And maybe some of them can be flashed with ntrboot. Some of them might also have RTS capability, but I understand that generally doesn't work very well anyway.

The kernel that you're using, as well, can have mixed results with certain games. I know Acekard 2(i) was likely the first to incorporate AP patching; early flashcarts required manual DLDI patching to boot homebrew, for example, with the Original R4 and slot-2 based flashcarts via DS-mode. But otherwise, flashcarts perform about the same as others, but has its own unique set of features dependable on the stock kernel that it uses, what system it is compatible with, and the specifications (which don't matter much.)

DSONE and r4ids.cn are probably the best ones when it comes to game compatibility. Personally, I really like the CycloDS Evolution interface but sadly it doesn't support some of the latest DS games like pokemon black 2.
Black 2 doesn't run? Which region? Since I dumped my white 2 (ITA) with godmode9 and cyclo runs it no problem.
Just patch the ROM with the xdelta from this onedrive in order to not trigger AP.
But yes, sadly you're right. Some games do not boot at all - ex. "Fossil Fighters: Champions".

Also, DSONE has the weird compatability issue that plagues all SC EOS kernels (DSone, iSmart MM and DStwo) - that the european version of "Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland " will not boot.
You gotta rebuild the rom with crystaltile2 or the libnds equivalent...
Hmm, other things to look for... well, "Last Window: The Secret of Cape West" triggers AP (don't remember if it doesn't boot at all unless you apply it?) so you gotta use the only patch available, the one with the intro. The intro is quite easy to disable though if you don't care about respecting the scene. Doesn't happen on iSmart MM & DStwo.
And the "bypass antipiracy" option, the one that is enabled with Y? It's mostly useless - breaks some games too (see MMBN5 EUR which, with it on, will crash during the intro with various graphical and sound glitches.)
Maybe if a person really doesn't want to patch roms on the computer r4ids.cn fares better? IIRC never heard of anyone having to patch stuff with official wood. That, or run YSMenu on DSONE - but you lose RTS.

But that's exactly the point
Ah, sorry, I took "doesn't support" as in "not booting" not even with manual patches.
Then r4ids.cn really is the only option, even DSONE EOS needs patches for a few games (another example is EUR Pokemon Conquest... but that doesn't work unless patched even in the iSmart MM or DStwo I think...) as I wrote above.
