Rayman Legends is an AMAZING 2D platformer for those who enjoy a fast paced challenge.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also an excellent game, if you want online fun, and an amazing party game, I bought it on Wii U and got it again on Switch and I have no regrets.
Death Road to Canada is also a goofy yet fun and challenging Indie game I really liked. It even has 2 player Co-Op
Of course there's the absolute necessities like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate if you enjoy fighting games and or have friends over a lot.
If you want awesome Single Player experiences then go for Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Dark Souls is also a masterpiece.

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful day!

+ Dragon Quest Builders - I have no idea why this game is so under-looked. It's as beautiful and happy as any DQ game, it's as deep and inspiring as Minecraft and it's a very unique take on a genre that was dominated by Minecraft. The 2nd game will have multiplayer and even more content.
+ Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with Japanese audio DLC. Similar to Tales of series. One of the best JRPG with a touching story and brilliant Japanese seiyuu.
+ Bayonetta 1-2 with Japanese audio. Tanaka Atsuko voices Bayonetta and if you know who she is, you probably have already played the game (if not - look up -_-). The game features great action and story and I doubt there'll be anything like this game in the future (except B3, of course)
+ Civilization VI - I strongly believe that Civilization is best to start with the 5th game + all add-ons and it's a real shame that Firaxis don't seem to want to bring the DLC that are already out on PC to Switch, but still. Civilization VI is one of those games you won't be able to put down for hours and there will always be something new to discover.

Eshop
+ Onimusha: Warlords - having played this game after experiencing Nioh, it's not as mind-blowing but still a very good game if you want more of samurai games which are practically non-existent nowadays. The game is priced fairly for its short length, too.

Last edited by DjoeN,
I've played quite a few games but not much can get my recommendation... Noticing my favorites are simple 2D.

Eshop
Stardew Valley
Undertale

Mario Kart was the first title I sank time into and I can't get over how much it hurts my hands to play in handheld mode. My thumb cramps holding A very quickly. I cant seem to play through a full trophy race without a lot of discomfort. For the purpose of the switch to me (99% portable mode), I couldn't recommend it. The game is otherwise good though
