I'm having trouble starting my Gamecube games with both the old Action Replay and Gecko cheats. Whenever I try to start games like Eternal Darkness and Sonic Gems, I get an error message shortly after they start up (or they start up normally but the cheats don't work). Is there any hacking I can do to fix this problem?

Use Dios Mios or Dios Mios Lite. You'll need a compatible SD or USB device plugged into the console for DM to boot the game in your Disc Drive though, so you don't need to have the game on USB or SD.

Dios Mios Lite seems to get an error reading my Action Replay backup by saying the disc space is empty or something like that. Will this happen with all backups?

DM doesn't play backup discs, unfortunately. You can use Retail games however. I don't think the original AR software is compatible with DM or DML, but I know you can cheat at Retail games and USB/SD backups.

You should try DM booter and convert your AR codes to Ocarina/GeckoCode format with GCNCrypt and ARtoWiiRD.
