I am still banned, but able to enter the e-Shop after I updated to gw9.9 and installed that multi-patcher-tool (is this good?).

And should I get a private header or install .cia files?

If your Emunand is on the latest firmware, then you don't need to use the freemultipatcher.
It's up to you, if you want to continue playing your games from your gateway red cart, then yes, get a private header. (If you have a retail game, all you have to do is Back it up from the gateway menu to your internal SD, then use Gateway Rom Patcher to rip the header from it & the same tool to apply the header to your other games.

If you'd rather install all of your games to the DS/internal SD, then you don't need to worry about headers.

Just get an use a private header.
You have Gateway, so you likely have OOT or Cubic Ninja.
Backup the game in the gateway menu, then use Gateway Rom Patcher to rip the header & inject it into the games you want to play online with. (Backup saves with SaveDataFiler so you can inject them into the new roms beforehand)

Newcomer here. I've been banned once and recently unbanned. I use sky3ds and, as the noob I was, I had been banned while playing Pokémon X (wonder trading, basically). Actually, I only enter online for wonder trades. Does any of you know how many times can someone be banned and if there's a chance of a permaban?

I wouldn't risk getting banned again if I were you. Just because the first one was temporary, if you get banned again there's no saying it won't be for good. What you need is a private header and you'll be safe. Send me a PM and I'll get you one if you're interested. You really don't want to risk going online with a public header anymore.

You aren't getting banned because of the headers. You're getting banned because you're cheating. Private headers keep you safe only if you don't cheat. If you do that then they'll detect it in a different way.

yeah thats it! Because i make a suicune with hidden ability which isnt available yet, so i went online with it, they not allowed me to enter in battle with this pokemon and the next day i was banned! So if i cheat with available and normal things which are existing i will be ok?

Recently nintendo made a statement to ban people using illegal pokes.

They said they will compensate anyone who was injuried by any kind of illegal pokes On Ratted battles or even trades.

Would Bravely Default cause a ban? It has....some sort of online thing. One of the early banned people played bravely default and pokemon and got banned for it.

Last time I checked, only certain games' headers were recommended... But that was quite a while back.

Any header works. Even from offline games. The most that you'll ever have to do is change the manufacturer ID if you're having issues but that takes a few button presses.

Up until page 160 or so of this thread nearly everything was speculation. At this point I con confidently say that it's the public headers that cause bans.
