Welp MH4U is here. Playing with a header from a different game even though I own the real deal. Going to test my luck with this private header. Wish me luck. Hopefully it really is public overused headers getting banned.

You da real mvp. I'm playing MM3D as a cia file. Doubt that'll get me banned but I'll keep people posted.

I know i should read the thread, but 104 pages is a lot D:
Only people getting banned are the ones who play online with pirated games? (i dont care a lot about losing online play since i only played pokemon with my retail card BEFORE gateway), but i dont want to lose acces to updates :(

People using public headers are so far. IE. They are all using the same Cart ID online like a CD key. So it got black listed.

But people using them to play online?, (i played all my games offline and only connected my 3ds to the internet to get updates).

Even if you get banned, you won't lose access to updates. People who have been banned can still access eShop.

Why would I patch a rom I don't go online with? Unless they flip the kill switch they can't possibly stop me playing roms.

Well you're already banned, so go crazy with it xD. I guess we haven't figured out the possibility of them checking headers for offline games.

Yeah i'm also very curious to see if we can pin-piont to a particular event that led to the Bans. Because if pushing an update to the 3DS and auto-blacklisting headers is happening at the same time i think i'll not update for a while. Also did you have the Gamecard in the device at the same time of the ban? I wonder if the 3DS keeps a log of headers for recently played games.

There's no specific firmware version this is happening for. Bottom line is don't go online with public headers. No other precautions you can take right now that will help.

I patch all my roms and just don't change the file to 3dz unless they have online play. Can you even update a game without a header? I remember people got errors saying the cart cannot be used.

Understood I guess my question is: If I update\eshop online on my 3DS and have NOT played a game online does Nintendo know that I used a public header from a history log or something?

Just food for thought.

We have no idea. I'd guess not. If they do have that information, they've probably had it for every firmware version from 9.0 onward, if not even earlier.
