No, a9lh won't boot without a arm9loaderhax.bin file on SD card, so without a SD card the screen stays black and you can't use the 3ds
Just reinject back with Decrypt9 a sysNand backup dumped before the installation of a9lh.

For the time being I am using emuNAND. I also agree that I feel more peace of mind using emuNAND, and I currently don't play a lot of VC games because most run better on my DSTWO, and the saves are easily transferrable to my PC and other emulators. Other than VC games and more SD card space, are there any other benefits?

For now, EmuNAND. Waiting for the dust to setting before unnecessarily messing with my SysNAND. I can swap the NANDs at any time, after all.

I don't like the idea of my 3DS relying on NAND backups that could get lost at some point in the future.

Emunand, because it works. If it ain't broke, no need to fix it.
That's a terrible way to think about things lol.
Our planet would be in a terrible condition if more people thought like that.

Anyways, I say sysNAND. People here are stating sysNAND's useless, well the same thing can be stated the other way around. EmuNAND's kinda of useless now.

People telling you about Nintendo ever breaking your 3DS, not possible. Certain CFWs block FIRM1/FIRM0, so an update will never be able to touch it.
"But what about when NATIVE_FIRM gets updated?" You'll get the same result as if you were running emuNAND. Your NAND will not boot until CFW devs update it to work with the latest FIRM. If you're feeling impatient, flash an older NAND backup, almost the same way you'd do on emuNAND.

People need to learn not being so scared, lol. Touching your sysNAND's not gonna kill it.

Emunand because I couldn't be arsed to transfer my way too many games installed
It's not difficult. Just backup your sysNAND and emuNAND, rename emuNAND to NAND.bin and rerun the arm9loaderhax.3dsx

This will completely transfer all your games, saves, etc. The only issue would be if you wanted to delete the emuNAND partition. That would required backing up your SD card, formatting it, and replacing the files from your computer. Still wouldn't lose anything though.

I don't even have an emuNAND on my main SD card. I couldn't be bothered. I don't need 9.2 that often that it's useful at all.

._. Uh....I use both. SysNAND for VC games (like my GBA ones and maybe DSi ones eventually) and EmuNAND for normal 3DS stuff. Maybe nobody else sees the benefits, but I quite like having them separate. When I look at the installed SD stuff, on my sysNAND there is only VC consoles, and on my emuNAND there is only 3DS stuff.

I know, but then it's not a advantage of a9lh to not have to reflash anything like the guy said.
Well...Yes, it isn't an advantage

Yes, but if the NATIVE_FIRM is updated while you are on emuNand you are always able to reinject an emuNand backup with decrypt9 in 5-10 minutes and continue to play (only offline) with your cias. If the same thing happens while you are on sysNand, you have to wait until a new exploit will be found (months-if not years).

Yes, but if the NATIE_FIRM is updated while you are on emuNand you are always able to reinject an emuNand backup with decrypt9 in 5-10 minutes and continue to play (only offline) with your cias. If the same thing happens while you are on sysNand, you have to wait until a new exploit will be found (months-if not years).
Not really, that's just false information.
You can boot into Decrypt9 with A9LH and flash a NAND backup, the same way you'd do it on emuNAND, 5-10 minutes.

Edit: You see, people don't understand how using sysNAND (with something like AuReiNAND) works. This is why everyone's so scared. You're assuming you'll lose A9LH, when you won't. FIRM1/FIRM0 is blocked by the CFW. Nintendo will never be able to remove A9LH from our systems.

but if a9lh is patched from the sysNand update, how can you launch decrypt9?
You can't when you turn on your 3ds and you can't even through the emuNand.

If you delete your emuNAND and update your sysNAND to 10.6, there's no way to access the full homebrew launcher, correct? Even if you use the homebrew launcher loader cia, you won't have access to homebrew like decrypt9.

I'm using AuReiNand as CFW and I know what you are referring to...but what if, someday, Nintendo find a way to overpass the protection of overwriting the NATIVE_FIRM with an update?
Don't update?

Don't you see this site filled with "can I update emuNAND to firmware x.x?" When a new firmware is released. More people are jumping towards sysNAND. So if someone with sysNAND updates and it's safe, then we'll update.

Also, it's not really worth Nintendo's time, they would have probably figured out if your using an emuNAND, but it's not worth their time. They'd rather patch out entry points for new users.
