I'm looking to replace my trusty r4 with a groovy new EDGE card. (Due largely to the greater capacity)

I'm a bit reluctant though as I'm concerned I'll fork out for an 8Gb SDHC and find out it doesn't work.

I'm particularly interested in the 'Play.com 8GB Micro SD HC Card'
available from play.com.

http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/-/1005/...earchtype=genre
Also is it safest to stick with class 6 SDHC cards or is 4 Ok?

http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/-/1005/...earchtype=genre

I'd be interested in peoples thoughts and experiences specifically with 8gb and higher cards with the EDGE.

Thank you

P.S. I've been googling this all day and yes I have read the reviews on here.

P.P.S Is the EDGE not worthy of it's own subforum now?

P.P.P.S Yes I do need an 8gb or higher card.
No 2x 4gbs won't cut it
Yes I am sure

EDITED DUE TO MY INABILITY TO READ PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS

Neither of those cards will work, they are full sized. You need micro sdhc.

Beyond that, I would avoid class 2 and would go with the class 6.
I am aware that they need to be micro, sadly my brain was not engaged when I read those product descriptions. So thanks

I've heard a lot of good things about Sandisk's 8GB card.
I'd try that one. I believe it comes in class 6 too.

There are not currently any cards > 8Gb for micro SD, at least not for retail sale. I have seen 16Gb regular SD cards though.. not that that helps

Also, I dont blame you. I want 8GB cards myself, but Im addicted to technology. My DS my Phone my PSP my laptop my pen drives.. external USB drives, all have to be at or near the maximum allowable.. or I feel.. cheapened somehow =)

Ta fellas all the responses are appreciated and I've had a good google looking at those transcend cards (I'd never even heard of those).

It seems close to impossible to find a micro sdhc 8gb that is class 6 in the UK.

So unless anyone can come up with a hidden gem I'll probably go with the play.com 8gb class 4 micro sdhc.

Thanks for the input.

P.S Has anyone bought from http://pcjerry.co.uk/edge.html I want to get my edge from there?

This is from the post above. There are 8gig micros

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820211341 it is $29.99

I bought one of those for my PSP, works great, For my EDGE I use a transcend 4GB class 6 card and still have over a GIG left of room after many backup roms, homebrew, and such, dunno what your gonna do that will fill 8GB worth of crap. Now if its the PSP its only holding about 10 games right now and of those many of them are compressed and small.

you are in the UK, sandisk 8gb class 6 ultras are all over the place there. Performance wise they are pretty much identical to the class 4s.
Get the edge from dealextreme imo as some of those sites are just resellers of dx goods.

What's an ultra? I'm intrigued.

I'm looking on the sandisk uk website and the only ultra I can see is a Memory stick not an SD card.

Um... Dealextreme are a North American focused company and they dispatch from Hong Kong I'm not prepared to put up with hassle and wait involved should the Edge have or develop a problem.
Plus EU customer protection is a robust creature that I am a fan of.
