Hardware DualShock 3 won't sync

So I needed Sixaxis for a game, got an official sony DS3 from Gamestop. Used because they didn't have any new ones. I also bought a 10 ft charge cable from there.

But it won't sync to my PS3. Just keeps flashing no matter how many times I connect it via USB (tried both ports) and press the PS Button. I have tried the reset function on the back near the L2 Button, didn't work.

Does the usb cable handle data? If it doesn’t then try a cable which can handle data.

Yup, it was the cable. Found a 1-foot one that works in my house.
