I tried some controllers (with Micro USB or USB-C) I bought on AliExpress, they're primarily for PS4, but also recognize as a DualShock 3 and works great... Until you get to PS2 BC.

I loaded up GT3 on a PS3 60GB and the controller couldn't connect with the console so I had to use a DS3 to play the game (it's still awesome).

Is there no alternative controller than a DS3 in this case? Mini USB isn't that bad, just not very convenient nowadays.

You'll likely have no luck in PS3's Safe Mode as well. PS2 Mode boots into a limited kernel. It's actually quite amazing that they implemented notifications to remind you to hit the PS button and such.

You can use the brook wingman xe2 adapter wich allows you to use dualshock 4 and dualsense, it haves to be on a specific firmware update beacuse recent updates make it stop working when enters on ps2 mode, also haves rumble, motion and the ps button works correctly
