Hey there everyone. I managed to get my hands on a NTSC-U Debug PS1 unit and readup that it was able to play backups! Now I've tried making some backups and burning them onto some Virbatim CD-Rs. My problem is that this debug unit can't seem to boot any of the cds I've burnt. One of them has gotten to the PS1 splash screen, but then doesn't load any more. I'm thinking that the disc drive has failed, but I have no real way of testing it. Putting in other disks (like Dreamcast or Saturn games) I am able to listen to the audio track that warns that this game was meant to be played on their respective systems, but I feel like the head isn't moving. Is there any way to easily test if the drive's head is moving properly, and if it is busted, will a 440BAM drive be a suitable replacement. If this was a standard ps1 I wouldn't bother asking about the replacement drive, but I want my debug unit to be pristine.
