On the DSV site, go to downloads. Download the encoder. The encoder is a command line program(Go figure)

hope that helped

You need to run it through the command prompt. If you're using windows, go to start -> run -> type command and enter.
Locate where you have your dsvideo.exe or simply put it in the root to find it easier. If it's in the root of C:\ (copy all the files (encoder, movie file etc) to the root to make it easier for you), then type cd\ to get to it.
Then type:

dsvideo.exe -o “C:\output.dsv” “C:\source.avi”

Wait till it's done and there you go.

DSV, Isn't that the old miniDV format? How on earth can something like that play on the Nintendo DS. If only the DS could play Xvid I would recommend that. DPG is the next best option. The Datel DSM format sounds like it's just a rebadged version of MJPEG. MJPEG is basically uncompressed AVI. Same format the Zen V and Sansa e200 use, but with a DS size screen.

Ever heard of this?
http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/tuna-vids/

But it isn't that great yet IMO.

Funny, just after I posted that I found tuna-vids. It only plays at 10FPS, which is a major drawback. And about the DSV, sorry my bad. It has a reasonable bitrate cap, but only 10 FPS. So movies will look OK, but choppy. I use DPG for everything. Even with the converting, it's better than tuna-vids. If they can ever pull off 20FPS, I'm all for tuna-vids (now I'm hungry). I'm surprised there isn't an MJPEG player. Would be nice for a camera.

Interesting idea: conversion ON DS. At that rate it would take about 3 days to convert a 43 minute episode.

Mighty Max tried a straight MPEG player, but it ran at 5 fps and he eventually gave up.

Sonny_jim was considering the idea of adding a DS-side converter program to DSLinux, but he never got around to working on it. If the XVID and FLV libraries could be ported to DSLinux, an FFMPEG port might be possible, which one could use to download an FLV file from Youtube and convert it into a format Tuna-viDS could use. Again though, this idea never left the "theory" area.

I downloaded it but i don't know how to use it..

here's a good batch file to use:

CODEdsvideo.exe -o buttsecks.dsv buttsecks.avi

BTW, the files must be avi and must be called 'buttsecks' to convert...

i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting strain on the ports. Instead of having the ports along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
