Im in the market for a DStwo for my 3ds, My 3ds is already on the 6.2 firmware, is there any way to update the firmware on the DStwo, or is it a paper weight til i find someone with a ds/3ds on a lower firmware. I don't want to waste money on something i can potentially not use.

Yes, it is possible, but not recommended.
So when you update the next time, update DSTWO before updating the 3DS.

Another option is, is to ask if the DSTWO can be updated before it is sent.

So another question. Got the dstwo in. Ran the updates anyways. Is it normal to have to spam the A button when powering up the console? That seems to be the only way I can get it to load without the error.

then why say that line?

I've yet to have any issues with my DsTwo on my 3DS XL, all updates are up to date and no issues at all.
