I can say my 2GB PNY SD and my 4GB Transcend SDHC work fine. They both read and write fast.

I give up on the Kingston 4gb. I just bought another one from a totally different store just to see if those earlier ones was maybe just a bad batch at the store. Same thing super long read speed. Then just to confirm it wasn`t just the rom I loaded everything on 2gb card and no problem.
OR maybe its just because its the Taiwan ones. I have heard the Japan ones are better?

Try formatting them with the panasonic formatter. Might make a difference.

I recently did that with my SD card (a 1gb Kingston japan) not because I'd been having any performance issues, but because I was using it for something else for a while, so I figured it might be good to format it while all my DS stuff was off of it, and anyway, now it's actually running SLOWER in the DSTT menu than it did before I used the panasonic formatter.

If it's running slower AFTER the format, you used the wrong settings.
I'm not sure what the right settings are, maybe someone else can tell you though.

the one i had issues with is taiwanese too.

Switched everything off the Taiwan Kingston 4gb onto a 4gb Sandisk, games load up fast again, the only downside is its a Class 2, definte slower write speed. Now I got to head back to Best Buy and pick up a few more while they are still on sale!

Nope, the settings were right. What can I say, it's a weird thing but weird things sometimes happen.

I've used few different brands of SD cards and never encountered any slowdowns (on save creation and ROM loading).

i'm currently using a Taiwan-made Kingston SD. no problems so far.

are you sure you bought a REAL one (SD or TTDS)?

I played around with many different combinations (sd cards, ttds cards, roms, different versions of 1.17, everything!!!)
I ruled out everything else it could be, I bought like 6 different 4gb Taiwan Kingston cards (from 2 different stores) I was suprised all were the same garbage.
I`ve used dozens of 4gb cards in the past, nothing like the last crap I got.
I tried Adata, Sandisk and some older Taiwan Kingstons I had around, all worked great.
I am positive it was a real bad batch of microsd cards, but the same from 2 completely different stores, wierd!!!
The wait for the games to load was painfull

I'm certain it's the micro SDHC cards I bought. I'm also certain that the cards run slow because of their read speed.

Perhaps you just got lucky with the few different cards you tried.

I just purchased seven 4GB A-Data cards from NewEgg; I'm hopeful these will work correctly. I already have an 8GB version of the same brand and it works fine.

BTW, I have real and fake DSTT, a real DSTTi, a CycloDS, and an R4 SDHC..... they are all slow with these crappy 4GB cards.

Received my A-Data cards from NewEgg. These work flawlessly and read/write extremely fast.

I think I'm going to stick with A-Data from now on.

Now here's something really strange, I thought I'd try these slow Kingston cards in my 'Pro Duo' Dual Slot adapter to run it on the PSP and it they're perfect in it.
