Hacking DSPhat touch screen broken

I really don't know what's wrong with it. Whenever I tap the screen, it's read as if it was touched on the right edge no matter where I touched it. It's been like this for a few months now and I've just ignored it and used my sister's DS whenever I needed the touchscreen.

What I really want to know is if I can fix this, if I can fix this, do I need to replace my touchscreen if I can't fix it, or if I need a whole new DS.

you can buy replacement touchscreens on the net
its not really hard to change the touchscreen but you have to be carefull with the switches (power and volume) and you need a nintendo screwdriver (tri wing)
