Gaming DSi XL IPS screens

Someone told me the other day that DSi's (regular and xl) had a good chance of having an IPS screen. Is that legit?

I've seen some reports that say all DSi screens are IPS but I don't know if that's confirmed. I'm thinking I might just get a DSi for GBA and NDS play instead of trying to get an IPS in my 3ds.

What I've heard is that all DSi XL's have IPS screens, but small size DSi's do not. Which would seem to be accurate from what I own, my three regular DSi's all have normal fairly bad viewing angle DS screens (though definitely better than my DS Lite, more like a 3DS) while my DSi XL has basically perfect viewing angles so if not IPS its at least some kinda much better quality LCD.

On the DSi I think the screen tilt test is the only method.

I tried that and the DSi XL still looks good from the bottom while the normal DSi looks a bit weird

Almost certainly got a TN regular DSi I would think. I'll probably start hunting for a nice DSi XL then.

The dsi xl is the best ds experience. I’d argue that with anyone! I love being able to change the brightness on-the-fly.
