It appears to be some sort of hardware. I think the exploit may sadly rely on this. Or it could be some sort of debugging device. But hopefully they will soon be able to release an exploit which only requires at most a game.

if it does get hacked, i will buy the dsi. im just curious about what they will do after this hack.

Pure rampant speculation: the fact it was launched after clicking "select profile" and if indeed the microcontroller is not necessary it says to me savegame hack or at least launched from one.

Either way a very interesting development, nice work all concerned.

Im not sure I understand what the hack is though. From the vid it looks like they are just using the dsi game to check for dsi mode then injecting there own code from there. So are they sorta working on a dsi flash cart?
