This is pointless DSlinux has a GUI, it just never got finished. Just finish that and quit whining.
Also, while we're making fucking miracles happen, why don't we port mother fucking windows 7 and flash to it so you can transfer files and use it as a mother fucking webcam when you could just make specific applications for those and just make applications for the ds instead of porting a fucking OS all over again when individual applications would actually run at over 4 fucking frames per second but that's too fucking hard. Jesus.

Ok so heres how the team is organized. I, Saphiresurf, will take no credit for things i havnt done. For example i would take credit for putting this idea into motion (if the idea does go into motion), putting the team that made dsi linux together, and anything else i would have done to further the development of this os. each section of the team will have the credit of making dsi linux (yes even the UI Designers :yayds: ) and anything else each part of the team did. So in this update i will explain how the team is organized. First the creator, which is me, will have the duties of getting needed information and files to each section of the team. The creator will also have to make the website and the blog (and keep it updated). The creator will also handle uploading files that are agreed by each section to be for public download. Then the developers section. The developers section will be... well the developers of course! Each developer will have to know how to program for DS or/and DSi and Linux. The Head Developer will be the most qualified developer. The Head Developer will also be in control of the Developer Section (obiously). Otherwise the Head Developer will act as a normal Developer. Lastly the UI Designer group. They basically just design the User Interface for DSi Linux. The Head UI designer does the same as the head developer except for the UI Designer section of the team. Well thats the basics! if you have any questions pm me.

That is a good point. (way to flame though

) It would just be pretty cool to have an os on there. I think i have a bigger announcement soon.

Look, it's clear that this isn't happening. It's way too much work to simply ask some people to do without any sort of knowledge of what you're doing. Even if it did, making applications for it would be, to say the least, highly impractical. The DSi =/= capable of running an operating system with a decent GUI made past the early macintosh pcs. Don't bother with it, you're never going to get ubuntu/debian/whatever other distro that has a smexeh GUI running decently on it. If you're that desperate to do this on the go, get an EeePC, it has a webcam, nice battery life, and the capability of running Linux, Windows, or OSX. And they're not that expensive.

P.S. There isnt a ds 2 theres the ds ll (or XL)

There WILL be a DS2, are you suggesting that the DSi is as far as the DS range will go? seriously.

I'm alright with PAlib and RTC functions. But alas, the DSi has to be hacked first. But I am working on a homebrew app that flashes your DSi and makes it more compatible.

Palib will be of no use to you for flashing the DSi, even knowing how to flash the DS will be of very litttle help to you. Remember, even those who originally started the DS homebrew scene have not managed to flash the DSi and no offence, but they are far more intelligent than many of us put together.

QUOTE(7mike7 @ Jan 2 2010, 11:00 PM)
maybe someone can make a bannerbomb type thing by putting a patch on a picture taken on the dsi

the DSi will not show anything in its file list that wasn't signed and ticketed by itself, that is why you can't transfer DSiware from one DSi to another. You should already know this is not possible.

I move that this thread be closed, it is nothing but a list of fail.

1. A non-coder is writing a tool to flash the DSi, when the gurus can not do it after a year.
2. A non-coder seems to think someone can find the 'common key' in DSi RAM, even though it is likely removed once the original file is decrypted so wont even be there.
3. Repeat, the gurus have found nothing after a year of trying.

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH.
:/

I know. I just can't comment on how fail that sounds. ITS JUST A FUCKING MASSIVE DSi!

On topic: This is going to be tough regardless. Did anyone maybe consider doing a ChickHEN-like exploit for the DSi? Or do you need the common key for that too?

How'd the ChickHEN exploit work?

It loaded a 'bad' picture on the psp, that caused a specific error, so that code could be reliably loaded. The DSi however, will not load anything that wasn't created on the DSi itself, which completely rules out this sort of attack.

Thanks for fillin' me in!

I have decided I will be head developer for this project. And I liked the idea of porting windows 7 to the DSi, so I am going to be the creator for that project too. I figure once we hack the DSi with DSi linux, then we can apply windows patches to the DSi linux which will then metamorphisize the DSi linux into windows 7. I know know it's going to be super hard but we can do this guyssss come awnnnnnnn

I'm sure we could get Snow Leopard running at 95% speed after we use our metamorphising of Linux -> Windows 7 -> Mac OSX.
