So, E3 is upon us. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll be knee-deep in video-game poo next week and loving it. There has been no concrete evidence that a next-gen DS will surface at the show, but most industry speculators agree, it's high time.

I was listening to IGN's most recent Nintendo-related podcast, and they were throwing out ideas of what we might expect from the new DS system -- built-in storage, a focus on downloadable content, etc. With that in mind, what do y`all think will be the main obstacle(s) for pirates with the new system, and how well do you think the community will respond? Will it be more difficult to get at what we want?

My opinion :
It will get harder ,they will surely do the best they can to stop things like flashcards. I can't expect them to make it as easy as they did with the DS.
If it's not hackable , the fanbase (real fans not some shit ass casual gamers) will probably get really small compared to the old one but I think it will just take a time 'till alot of people realize that it's really good and even worth buying games for.

There's going to be a secret nuclear bomb inside of the unit. If it detects that you're pirating, it'll set off the bomb. D:

Or at least seriously, possibly the encryption for the downloaded games, though WiiWare hasn't proven to be that big of a challenge.

if its going to have built-in storage, i guess there's no need for flash carts, something like the memory stick on a psp running an iso would be the easiest thing to do.

I'm pretty sure nintendo will throw some kind of thing in the way of pirated if there's a new model. However, I don't expect it will change much from the original DS, or at least not yet. Hopefully that will make things easier. Right now I'm content with my DS anyway.

Hmm I don't think the PS3 is hackable, otherwise there'd be homebrew or something for it

But yeah, I think Nintendo has learned from there mistakes so they might try something against piracy. What's kind of weird is that Nintendo haven't tried anything against piracy hardware wise like Sony did. (Except for the Wii.) They could've done something to the new models to stop it. Wonder why.

Also iTunes DRM is unhackable as well.

There is no homebrew for the ps3?

Ontopic:
As soon as this "DS2" is hacked, I'm buying it.
Till then, I'm sticking with my DSPhat

Thats beside the point of hacking..on top of that, there all emulators so it wouldn't exactly be called a hack.

wats drm?

Digital Rights Management
Did anyone actually tried to hack it?
Because everyone downloads with p2p programs and stuff.
So why should anyone download using iTunes?

Regardless of whether there is a point or not people have tried to hack iTunes DRM and have been largely unsuccessful.

The only "advance" so far have been programs like TuneBite which play back the video and record the video-out and save it as WMA, obviously they are not cracking anything.

The PS3 has linux but the GPU is still locked and playing backups is still impossible which is (quite frankly) very surprising.

That being said though, if the DS2 uses cartridges I doubt it will be very hard to hack, at first it might be a little tricky like the DS was at first (passme, patching roms, manual DLDI, etc) and if it has firmware updates it could be even trickier but it will be hacked eventually.
