You might already know this, and you're referring to them filling the screen on the DSi XL, but in case not: If you hold Start while a DS game is loading, you get the correct res, albeit with black borders.
Thanks, but yes I do mean filling the screen of the XL. I prefer the XL DSi and 3DS models and it always seemed a shame not to use the screen space! So I do normally play DS games on the DSi XL for that reason.

Honestly, I wish they made an NDS XL just for that reason :P

It's only filled with FFs.
Found out from here: http://problemkaputt.de/gbatek.htm#dsiiomap
But... What does it do? What's the point of it existing? Is it just so DS mode games don't panic when trying to read it? Very interesting... Someone ought to run a debugger on that thing.
On an unrelated note, and sorry for the off-topic, but can some mod just lock @hacksn5s4 from posting here? He's trashing this thread with completely worthless, unreadable posts asking for stuff. This is a good example:
idk why its gonna take so long to make
He's been doing this since the very first pages of this thread, and now that it's restarted with the SD card access, it's more annoying than ever. /rant

I had blocked him and was wondering why last page was so confusing, lmao

ie. With Slot 2? Would have been great to have kept that so I didn't feel compelled to keep a DS Lite lying around :P

Bringing it back to the DS(i) mode hacking progress... wouldn't it be great if it were somehow possible to mimic the Slot 2 features in NDS games? I can't imagine that this would be doable but I found that such a cool feature of the DS and DS Lite.

...with further twlbg patches, would it be possible to provide analog circle pad input to homebrew/romhacks that poke something to ask for it? (perhaps attempting to write to a part of the "GBA slot" that would usually be mapped to ROM) Would be a perfect addition to Super Mario 64 DS.

I've always kind of wondered if it would be possible to constantly emulate a stylus held somewhere on the touchscreen and offset it to match the circle pad, specifically for SM64DS. Were it even possible it would be quite a project, but it would be cool.

That being said, it seems rather unlikely. I understand that 3DS hardware is turned off in NTR/TWL mode, so there would be nothing around that knows how to read from the circle pad. The firmware we're working from doesn't even know what a circle pad is. Yes, we can break into TWL and get its hardware working, but breaking into CTR would be a hell of a trick.

The only thing that makes me think it could be possible is the fact that it's used for d-pad emulation. If we know what does that we could maybe mess with it. But I dunno.

To my understanding, TWLBG is the ARM11 program that runs during TWL/NTR execution and handles drawing the NTR framebuffers to the screens (and returning touch input to ARM7/9); ARM11 would of course have access to all the controls, and thus could relay said information to the other cores.

hows it going to take mouths to get ds rom loading to work if sd access was working wasn't that the biggest issue people had before with trying to do it that dsi ware only had a limt to what size of games could be

how about you show us how it's done

Please, shut up already.

how about you don't reply to my post and just not read it if you don't like it
How about not posting retarded shit all the time and put that peanut of a mind of yours to work a bit? Buy a damn flashcart if you can't wait for months. The devs who work on all these projects are not your slaves. I really wonder how you managed to have 2,500 messages and still ask the most basic stuff.

this is what causes a thread to turn to shit complaing about other peoples posts instead of ignoring every one has their own opnion if you don't like it don't complain about it

Do you even understand that you aren't wanted here? People like you make this place hell. I am going to leave you to your own devices but think about what you are about to type every time you wish to load the server with more useless questions.

slot 2 was also used for the rumble and extra ram pack which the ds browser required for it to work :P

/* pun *zomg webnkits exploits in twlomode!! */

just kidding

i ask questions over again even though i already asked them because no on reads the previous pages

After we will achieve ROM to SD (or NAND) patching and save to SD (or NAND) patching we will try to redirect gba to SD/AGB_FIRM. there are so many things we can think of to improve TWL FIRM, but let's try to focus on the most possible, easy and demanded patches first (I guess gba is more difficult and less needed then rom loading).

Note: I'm not involved in any team related to TWL patching, I just used the Royal we.
