Hold start+select on launch
I wonder if there would ever be a way to force DS games to display the top screen in 16:9. I know it'll looked stretched, but the black bars get to me (always hated the black bars when watching movies as a kid, they still annoy me to this day ;-; ).
 
Just tell me when we have DS/DSi non "blurry" on XL :P
Messing with the way DS games are displayed is definitely possible (confirmed by Smealum), whether we can improve them though is another thing entirely.

Actually, you can hold either Start or Select.

The DS's screen resolution is 256x192. The 3DS's (bottom screen) resolution is 320x240.
You can't upscale it so it every pixel fits perfectly and the filter that's applied there is probably the one with the best performance (if other filters can even be used).

I'd rather it be like playing GBA games without filters, its just the way I like it.
 
@Normmatt If you have anything else to say on the matter of DS loading on 3DS that we may have missed, any knowledge would be appreciated. I like learning.

Don't put your faith in @Normmatt, I highly doubt he'll contribute that much to the DS(i) mode hacking.

Guess what I managed to get working finally!



TWL dev apps!

I show TWLNandFiler and TWLNMenu working on my retail console! TWLNandFiler is the equilievent to SaveDataFiler. TWLNMenu is the equilivent to the DevMenu but for the DSi. It was part of the DSi SDK. Since 3DS keeps tickets on CTR_NAND, DSi TWLNMenu was made obsolete by the use of DevMenu and title install being managed solely by CTR mode. Still fun to see what it does on a 3DS though. :P

Question: How did you managed to get this working?
 
For those wondering about DS warez:
  • It requires signature patches, which we have
  • It would require detecting official SDK functions, especially CARD_* CARDi_* and FS_* ones, and patch them so they jump to our custom code, for every single game
  • Implement that custom code
  • Fix other oddities
  • It's not that simple, actually.
Yes buy a $15 ds flashcart and have it already ;)
