I would be shocked if it was and most of the ones with ancient civilisations are not terribly good versions of that game (there are worse out there but compared to the likes of Dragon Dance not so much).
Edit- probably should have just checked youtube

On the other hand we started up a little project to see if/what proper Mahjong games are available and good to translate a while back (there are none in English). I sidelined it to rewrite the rom hacking docs but once I am done with that (or at least have a proper preview version out which I hope will be by the middle of the week and if not the weekend) I am going back to it (will probably have to read and memorise http://cs229.stanford.edu/proj2009/Loh.pdf first though).
http://gbatemp.net/topic/321397-translation-of-a-nds-competitive-mahjong-title/ has more on that.

Interesting. Too bad nobody wants to translate Go games for DS, despite lists like this http://indessed.com/Cho-Chikun-no-Tsumego/ being available for some of them.

If it is just a few lines of text already done then you might be able to get someone to do it. The trouble with Go though is every game I have seen has either been a training guide, a replay tool for games, really really weak or the very occasional multiplayer game. Granted this is for good reason (go is barely able to be done by computers at a semi competent level owing to how much calculation it needs) but it does rather impact the desire to translate one.

This is getting off topic though but if you wanted to make a list of the go games and their merits similar to what was done for that mahjong title

Also I believe there was a homebrew go replaying tool
edit- apparently there are a handful

The link above also discussed the merits of several Go titles.... might be able to get something done.

There was a pretty decent version of shogi (Hasami and regular) in the usual multi5 languages in Clubhouse Games/42 All-Time Classics. Naturally not many variants/scope for house rules and options as far as replays, stats and such and I am not good enough at the game to call the AI but none the less a perfectly functional version of both games.
Certainly a translation of even the 1500 series shogi game would probably not go amiss but you can get it done.

Sugoroku on the other hand....

this is not a real mahjong game, right? does anyone know?
just the usual "find the pairs"-gameplay is my guess.

is there a real mahjong game which is not japanese?

Yes, Yakuza 2 for PS2 and Yakuza 4 for PS3. Granted you will need to reach the in-game mahjong parlors first, but the games are indeed translated into English and released outside of Japan.

What I can tell you for sure though, is that if you know how to play mahjong, you will not need a translation. I'm a big (Japanese) mahjong advocate, so I would totally recommend Yakuman DS if you are even the slightest bit interested.

I found a few pc version of Go you can get on the PC. Now ill have to check what fast said for Shogi. And i would love for the Gundam mahjong title to be translated lol.

It was going to be my next translation project, but my DS died (shortly after I beat Gundam Mahjong + Z...). It's a fantastic game for Gundam and Mahjong fans alike.
