Apparently this game needs a fix to work on flashcards. There's a hex edit you can use-

Open the file with XVI32, then follow these steps:

1. Go to "Address" and then "Goto", type in the first part of the first row (00004300) under hexidecimal and hit OK.

2. Then without touching anything, go to edit > overwrite string > and enter

3. You will need to do this for each row separately.

I think it takes place right after the events of Hotel Dusk. According to some sources I've read,

he probably got fired from the Red Crown or something, his house gets evicted, and he went to go look for something in an apartment before it gets torn down.
