My understanding is it turn-based set on a hexagonal grid.

So neither action nor an advance wars clone...

Personally, Ive been hanging out for this for a while!

quick first impressions

the game seems like a mix of battle isle and advance wars
you can play various historical settings, for example WW2.
while the overall visualization won't blow your mind, the fight scenes actually look rather impressive.
but who cares, this game is about strategy and it's got tons of it.
if you care about games like advance wars you definitely owe yourself to give this gem a try, so far i'm loving it.
plus i can't wait to give wifi a try, online matches would really be the icing on the cake.

It won't blow people's mind with outstanding graphics, but it has a good strategic ground. Ant it's all I ask from a strategy game. Good mechanics with decent graphics.

Nope. I played it only for 20 minutes or so, but so far, no big disappointment.
Apart from a few cheesy cliches here and there (why does your portrait look stuffed into a uniform?), it is not too bad. Of course, I have mostly been reading the in-game glossary and attempting a training mission, but it looked and played okay.
I won't be able to give anymore impressions for a while: battery came to an abrupt end, I have to wait for 2 hours and a half for it to refill (plus, I have some students' homeworks to correct... I have to stuff some work between my gaming moments, now...
