Can anyone tell me what the gameplay is like? Is is it like slow Pokemon or something like Monster Rancher? I loved Moncher Rancher...

I know this thread is now 10 pages long and I don't expect you to necessarily browse each one, but if you scroll up a few posts above yours I gave a fairly detailed description of the gameplay.

Am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that the game is so horribly translated? One would think that professionals like Square Enix would have translated it properly.

Haha, you beat me to the punch! I love it when your team gets wiped out and it says, "your team are wiped out!" The grammatical errors are plentyful!

Yeah, but I still think they did a good job overall. It's a pretty big game to sift through. I'm just glad to have it in a language I can mostly understand.

I certainly wouldn't say that the game is "horribly translated." A few grammatical errors do little to dampen my enjoyment of Joker.

Team can be used in the singular and the collective. I think it's an Americanism that the singular is primarily used, Eg. "That band really sucks!". In the UK, people would tend to say "That band really suck!" and go for the collective tense. From the 3 minutes of this game that I've played, the translation's been good.

I remember Dragon Quest VIII had English voice actors, so I think they translate them as if they're British. An example would be them spelling synthesis "synthesise." I forgot it was the non-American translation to English.

As an American, I can tell you that is not correct grammar. But also as someone who writes for a living, I'm less critical because I make mistakes myself.

You don't understand. The U.S. and the U.K. have different grammar rules.

No, you seem to not understand. Look at the original post (that I commented about) again.

Are you saying something I said used incorrect grammar? Or are you saying from your perspective (American English), the grammar in the game is incorrect?

I don't actually know whether it's just a quirk of the US language that everyone uses the incorrect tense for collective nouns, or if it's actually accepted as the right way of saying it.
