Hello, I just got my new AK2 and i waned to try the download play function, but to my surprise it doesnt work. I´m using the lastest version of the bliss custom os.
I get to the point where the client ds starts the nintendo logo and it just stops there. I´ve enabled download play in the patches menu but to no avail.
The titles i tred was mario kart DS and New super mario bros.
What could be the problem?

You´re probably right. I trimmed them with rominator, but the new version of rominator does not have the option of safe trimming like the older one.
I´ll try an untrimmed one.
What trimmer could i use that will not break compatibility.

Yes it does.

Rominator does have an option for safe trimming.

File->Settings->Flashing->Use "Safe Trimming" Method

please report back after you try an untrimmed/safe trimmed rom.. i'd like to know about download play compatibility...

I didn't see the option at first. I've enabled it and will trim them again and test and report back the results.
Thanks for all the info.

OK, had my first test of the download play functions of the AK2 last night and the result was pretty epic fail. I tried to play download play with that LOL game (with the download play patch enabled) and got something I hadn't seen for a long time - the communication error screen. Now, I know the first question is going to be if I trimmed the rom. Yep, I trimmed it with the little 13k trim.exe I trim all my roms with. I've never really been convinced about this 'trimming killing download play' theory because I use the download play functions a lot, I trim all my roms and since the R4 firmware that sorted download play I've never had a problem with any game.

So I popped out my AK2 and swapped my microSD into my R4 (I've still got the R4 firmware on my microSD) and download play worked first time. I've not had a chance to check an untrimmed rom, but even if that works, how come the R4 can achieve download play from a file the AK2 can't? If the idea is that trimming removes or corrupts some data in the ROM which download play relies on, shoudn't neither card be able to run it?

i don't trim any of my roms... if you run out of room on your sd, just take some out. In reality, you're never ever going to play 30+ games at once...

I have a 4g, and when I feel it up, at most, I play 5 games on a regular basis?

I can confirm that you can Trim your roms with Rominator using the safe trimming option and download play will work. Tested it yesterday with a couple of games.

Tried LOL untrimmed as well now - Download play still no workie. Still fine on R4, trimmed or untrimmed.

Other games are fine on the AK2, and I've still not found a game which works untrimmed but not trimmed. Either people are using more ham-fisted trimming applications than me or it doesn't make a difference.

Since nobody has chimed in saying that it works fine for them, it's possible that LOL simply doesn't work with download play with the current firmware. Post your findings on the Acekard site, and they may be able to fix it in a future firmware release, or someone might at least report that it works for them (in which case you could try to figure out why it doesn't work for you).

Will do - to be fair I tried it before the new firmware came out last week, so it's possible it's fixed through that (Although it's not mentioned in the changelog)
