Hey, just popping in to let you know that my new 64gb SD card arrived in the mail, and it's able to write files properly. I'd love to know what exactly my n3ds hated about my 32gb SD card, but I guess I never will, thanks again for the time you spent trying to help me, even going so far as for the custom build, appreciated much.

Apologies for it as well, hopefully you can understand why I assumed it was software related, though :P

Hahahaha thanks pal, I just won't to press the wrong thing other than a Nand/emuNand restore if I don't know what I'm doing
Decrypt9 warns you before dangerous operations, with a little bif of attention nothing bad will happen.

Thanks for testing this, too, as this helped me gain insight into this! I'm pretty sure yours is not the only case of this, although this must still be rare.

@d0k3 Danke :) Tested and used Decrypt9 WIP on various O3DS/N3DS systems with FW9.2. A9lh version works now on a 64GB SD on a N3DS with proper bins installed. Checked all options and as of now they work as intended :)

Can someone give me a hand? I have no clue of how to run this in my New 3DS XL.

I'd like to set it in my ctrboot menu, I've copied all the files to the micro sd and added to the config file an entry to load "Decrypt9WIP.dat" but it freezes. I've also tried with the .3dsx file with the same result.

Do I actually need to do something with the files downloaded to get it to work? If so, is there a guide?

Sorry for being such a noob :(

Several dump questions. Would be grateful if someone could answer them.

1. When do we use partition dump (or restore) and when do we use Emunand backup (or restore)? How to decide and to choose among them?

2. Is it really possible to restore the partition/emunand within the Decrypt9 environment. I mean, it's part of the system right? Or shall we use other tools to restore the backup?

3. If I screw up 3ds and got it half-bricked, I suppose we could not restore the partition/emunand by using this tool. How could we restore it then?

4. Is it safe or risky to dump and inject back the ticket.db whenever we need? I mean, how risky would it be when performing injection?

Many thanks in advance.

1. That's really up to you depending on your goal. And to choose between them they both have their own menu's, Sysnand and Emunand respectively.

2. Yes it is possible to restore partitions/emunand (and the same with sysnand) within the Decrypt9 environment. No other tools needed.

3. This is a tough one, depends on what part of the nand you brick, if you brick TWL for example the system will still boot as normal like nothing happened. If you brick FIRM partitions on the other hand you're pretty much screwed unless you have a backup and a hardmod. <-- all that is relating to sysnand though. If you brick emunand in any way you can just restore a backup and it will boot again.

4. Seems pretty safe to be honest, I've never had an issue and i do ALOT of testing with Decrypt9 (probably one of the primary testers I'd say).

Thanks for such quickkkkkk reply. Loud and clear.

My main goal is to keep a full backup of my whole Emunand system as it is (including ticket.db, the cia I installed, the save data, etc etc.).
And I am not sure whether I would change SD card in future (would it make a difference and would Decreypt9 help me in this respect?).

Which one shall I choose or is it safe to keep both dump and backup? (partition dump vs Emunand backup)

For number 4, thanks for your assurance because the system prompt me a warning of danger. I haven't tried it out but would the injection of ticket.db allow me to choose which dump of backup I'd like to inject back? Another follow-up question is that by injecting a clean ticket.db back to emunand, i suppose it will clear off any traces of subsequent cia installation that may be recognizable in eshop, right?

Very grateful for your reply :grog::grog::P

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Ouch, I found these options.

Dump TWLN Partition
Dump TWLP Partition
Dump AGBSAVE Partition
Dump Firm0 Partition
Dump Firm1 Partition
Dump Ctrnand Partition...

Gosh...
Would be good if someone could explain what they are for.

Make sure you're on the correct FW version (9.x) and to use the correct offset. Decrypt9.bin has offset 0, Decrypt9.dat, I'm unsure (0x12000, I think). I recall that last time I checked CTR Boot Manager had some trouble running D9 - maybe ask in the CTRBM thread?

And there is a pretty good readme included.

@d0k3 myself and a pal have been using your tool for some time, using the latest WIP upon running a self test getting this message

1 of 18 tests failed, Failed tests: ncch_7x_key

Running under a9lh, i read your comments on GitHub about it not being a false positive

Is there a remedy for this ?

Get the slot0x25keyX.bin file, that's all you need to do :). Note that the selftest does not set keys from files, so the selftest for this one will keep in failing, although everything works.

Can you add OTP dumping via D9 if run from an A9LH environment? In a perfect world, you would never need the OTP again after setting up A9LH already, but, well... :p You never know!
Alternatively, or maybe additionally, OTP.bin (from SD) validation when under A9LH. So you have an out when you mix up your OTPs for your three different consoles

Im not very sure that we can actually get the otp.bin from a9lh. I believe its still kinda locked away. But hey, if there is a possibility of this, that would be awesome. I have a backup of my sysnand 2.1 soo if you did that, it shouldnt be a problem to get it again. But i also have my OTP in many locations. Uploaded and on usbs/ msd cards. Gotta keep that thing safe xD

Locked away, only dumpable on FW 2.1, which has it's own limitations. Nope, this will never be in Decrypt9.

Hmm, so we can't dump it, but since the OTP's hash is still left in the SHA register at A9LH runtime, we could at least verify an existing OTP.bin on the SD, right?

Which dumping option should I choose if I want to keep a full backup of my whole Emunand system (including ticket.db, the cia I installed and the save data)?
