(in the process of downgrading) how do I determine which firmware nand i restored to my switch so i know which FW binary files to pick and i can continue downgrading?

You are aware that you're gonna have to use RCM on every boot and load a custom loader every time right? That is unless you previously upgraded with choidejour and used autoRCM to prevent fuse burn.

@Kafluke

You can compare your fuse count to the list to see what firmware you restored to.

Use hekate to see your burnt fuses. Check here to see a list of firmware versions and expected fuse count.
So i have 9 burnt but the fw i restored to has a date of 12/2017, 7.0 definitely wasnt out yet. Will the fuse count change even tho i restored a lesser fw and im not on 7.0 anymore? I cant boot normal so i know it had to work.

You cant restore to a lower firmware than your fuse count and have your switch boot normally. That's your problem.

Your fuse count is set in stone. You now have to upgrade to 7.x in order for your switch to boot normally. You can still boot to OFW through a custom boot loader like hekate but you'll have to do it every time you boot.

So i cannot downgrade or i have to figure out what my old nand is in order to?

You cannot downgrade at all, regardless of how you could do it, if you want to be able to boot your Switch normally. If you downgrade in any way, you will need to use Hekate or another bootloader in order to be able to boot your Switch.

As I said, you can still downgrade, but doing so will require AutoRCM. Hekate will be used each time you power on the system. If you keep your Switch in sleep mode when it's not being used, this isn't a big deal.

If I were you though, I would just wait.

I know this isn't my thread but my need for answer are relevant

1. if a rebuild the nand of the same current installed do you still need autorcm/rcm?
2. does rebuilding the nand remove all traces of cfw?
3. if not is it possible to remove all traces, how?

thanks

1. don't understand what you're trying to achieve here. A clean legit system? of course you don't need AutoRCM.
2. Supposedly... no one really knows, but 3) it's your best bet

Only if you're downgrading.

In theory it removes all traces but deleting log files is known to cause bans and when you rebuild the NAND you are essentially removing all log files as well as anything else that would normally be there on a not-fresh-from-factory system. And maybe even some things that are there on factory fresh systems. It creates the bare minimum for a normally working system which will likely have differences from a stock console.

thanks for the this but if we treat the switch like a android the device we are reflashing partitions which overwrites any previous data and there be no log to log there was any to begin with unless theres another partition such as misc partition that are in android devices, could this be answer for why people get ban for this?

It could be any number of things that are different from a stock console but blank/missing log files is an obvious one.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
