Hacking Downgrade for System Menu 4.0

Since you've already downgraded IOS35, you just use the IOS35 wad manager to install it. If you're downgrading stuff that probably means you already have it installed, just so you know.

One thing you should do, though, is run the cIOS Rev10 installer since this apparently uses the rather old Rev6.

umm...so...I'm good to go back to the wii menu?
Will I still be able top play my backups?
Will the Rebooter finally work again in GeckoOS?
sorry if it seems I'm pestering you

Edit: read ur edit...I'm on rev8, so I might go to rev9 or rev10, but I heard 10 had some problems

Ooh, so you want to use the Rebooter function. In that case I think you will need to downgrade. Sorry that I didn't catch that detail...

Before I came here I've been following this guide, but I found out that my computer was too short on disk space to install ANYTHING else (netframework blah, blah, blah)...this isn't even the computer I normally use for Wii hacking but my laptop needs a new power adapter before I can use it again.
anyways, this guide states that I only needed to downgrade some other IOS and not every IOS (30?) because I'm at 4.0 and I like it

7) When it says "IOS 249 (Rev 5) loaded successfully", install all of the IOSes except IOS35...

It's notable that if you're just whipping through the install* like I did, and accidentally install IOS35; you can re-install the correct one with Step 5 without any worries.

*Plan on at least an hour!

i noticed your step by step (first post) says install everything except 35
i ONLY installed 60 (to make 4.0 work) are the others really needed?

1) Unpack the archive linked above.
2) Do a full backup of your SD card on the PC, and DELETE everything from the card.
3) Copy BannerBomb to the SD card.
4) Copy the content of the "SD Root" folder in the archive to the root of the SD card.
5) On the Wii, launch boot.dol using BannerBomb, then go to "downgradetools" in the SD and choose notDVDX34.dol. Pick "Downgrade IOS35", wait for it to end and come back to the menu, then exit.
- If it says that "you're a pirate" delete also all your VC/WiiWare pirated channels (with AnyTitle Deleter or WAD Manager), execute NandClean.dol, choose to delete "dvdx 3.4's gift" and try again

6) Launch PatchMii IOS Downgrader.dol, you may need to launch it from LoadMii 1 or 2 times, until it's needed

7) When it says "IOS 249 (Rev 5) loaded successfully", install all of the IOSes except IOS35 (with trucha patch). If you want, you can also install System Menu 3.2 or 4.0, but MAKE SURE that its IOS has been installed correctly:
- System Menu 3.2 requires IOS30;
- System Menu 4.0 requires IOS60.
Hello, I have a few questions about this process that I would like answered if possible.

1) what are the Trucha IOS patches for? (signing bug fix I assume from patchmii site)

2) Does system menu 3.4 overwrite 4.0 (and vice-versa)? must I somehow erase System Menu 4.0 in order to get 3.4 working? does 3.4 depend on the Trucha IOS patches?

Thanks for this Davi92, I actually was able to use these instructions and some other programs to load backup loader on Wii System menu 4.0 and get it WORKING.

no, I'm am not lying. I did not need to downgrade the firmware, I had to downgrade the IOS, but the firmware is still System Menu 4.0 and I have a WORKING Gamma Backup loader on System Menu 4.0

Thank you Davi92

so i did this, and i installed everything except for ios35 and the 4.0 menu. NOW, whenever i turn my WII on i get a white flash and then black...

You don't need to install IOS51. That was for the old shop channel. But did you end up installing IOS30 or something else?

Also, you don't really need to downgrade either. Just get cIOS installed and you're set.

How do you get cIOS installed?

I think I have the same problem as jeffy, so please tell us how to solve the problem. i want to play the the game I backed up. my wii will turn on but its just a blank screen i did every thing in the tutorial i installed everything but IOS35 and then i downgraded from 4.0 to 3.2 pressed exit return to menu the menu wouldn't appear so i turned it off and restarted now it is just a blank screen and i cant even connect my wiimote to press anything PLEASE HELP OR MY WII IS AS BAD AS BRICKED

I seem to have the same problem as jeffy and pbj22. Has anyone ran into this problem and been able to recover from it? Is savemii the only real chance at fixing it? (no bootmii or preloader)

Same problem here. I tried to downgrade from a bricked 4.0 (I went to preloader at booting proces then to HBC to do this) to 3.2, following the steps carefully, installing every thingy except 35. Then I installed 30 for system menu 3.2 and afterwards I installed system menu 3.2
Then I quit the app and rebooted my Wii, and now im stuck on a black screen. Bluetooth not working, savemii stays on red light, its supposed to turn green. And preloader's not working.

I guess I really screwed up this time lol

Any ideas?

EDiT: I also tried autoboot discs. HBC and AnyTitleDeleter both a no-go, nothing happens.

When I lunched PatchMii IOS Downgrader.dol it stops with ios28. It backs to menu. Its fast and i cant read errors. Do you know any solution?

So does anyone know what those of us who now get the black screen can do? I have tried savemiifree and get nothing (have done it successfully on another wii though so I know I am doing it right.) According to the save mii website it could be a problem with the wifi module, but why would this procedure in this thread lead to breaking the wifi? I don't want to have to completely take apart two Wiis to try to see if this is the problem if there is very little chance of it fixing it.

Also, I don't understand why nobody seemed to get this black-screen brick early on in this thread, but now at least 3 or 4 of us have gotten it in the past couple weeks. Any thoughts?
