Homebrew Dosbox help?

So I installed the Dosbox cia from Retroarch, but it doesn't seem to work. I've tried two games so far (I.M. Meen and Mortal Kombat.) Every time I try to run either of the .exe files for the game, it freezes. Am I doing it wrong? I couldn't seem to find any info online, so I'm asking here. I apologize if this isn't the place to post this. I'm using a New 3ds, by the way.

Why not use DosBox for pc?

I just thought maybe I'd try it on a portable system because the only other emulator I'm interested in on 3DS, the PSX one, runs really slow. I use DosBox on PC, anyway.
