Hacking Does your DS have any defects?

2 stuck pixels and this scrape on the screen that looks bigger or smaller depending on the angle you look at it.
Whoops, that's my PSP... My DS doesn't have any real defects, since I'm paranoid about it.

My L button died on me too. Thankfully, it was still under warranty, so Nintendo just shipped me a brand new one. Which was great, because I had also basically ruined my touch screen with Elite Beat Agents and Feel the Magic at that point.

Although now my touch screen has started to become unresponsive in some places again, so maybe I'll have to buy a new one soon.

Mine has a loose volume switch. It was like it when I brought it, didn't know anyone else with a DS Lite so didn't realise it wasn't normal. Still works fine though, just rattles a but

About 75% of the right side of the touch screen doesn't detect anything which is annoying on some games :/

Heh, inspired by this thread, i wrote a quite long letter (in swedish..)
to Nintendo Sweden about my DS, and it's condition.
it got 2.2KB big, i.e a bit longer than 2048 letters

i kinda demand a new one in it, and.. says/expains some stuff.. hope it'll work..

I had the dreaded cracked hinge on my DS Lite, but since it was under warranty Nintendo Australia fixed it for free!

One of my three DS Lite's volume switch is loose but it doesn't bother me.
But all of my DS Lites have the yellow touch screen which just looks plain ugly.
And my white DS Lite from launch has a cracked hinge and it's way past warranty. But it still hasn't come off yet.

I always took care of my DS (its a launch day DSLite) but it has a bunch of problems...
It has a crack in the hinge, and the piece of plastic below the hinge on the bottom portion of the ds is bent a bit.
The touchscreen has 2 fairly large scratches, but they aren't very deep so they only thing they affect is how nice it looks.
The touchscreen is all misaligned in the bottom-center portion of the screen (the rest is all fine, and recalibration doesn't fix it). The L button sometimes doesn't work, I have to blow into it to make it work.

When they release a new model of DS or they bring the price down considerably, I will probably get another because this one is on its last legs. Sorta sucks I have to spend another $130 though.

My first crimson/black DS had a defective D-Pad. I was having difficulties going diagonally on it and once my wife got hers it wad obvious that mine was defective. Unfortunately I lost the reciept (bought it at K-Mart) so I had to go get another. Got another crimson/black from Walmart and it works great. Kept the defective one for parts.

Hello bergsala,
hope this is the right place to ask my question.

I have tidagare had a DS Lite (white) in which the right hinge broke, then the guarantee had expired on it, so I bought a new DS Lite.
Now that 1års-guarantee period is running out on my "new" DS Lite (29Augusti), then my second DS Lite to get the same injury, it has a large crack on the right hinge,
appearing to break at any time ..
it also has other defects such as:

Touch screen is not 100% accurate, very often when you click somewhere, "jump" the round, o click on other places, such as that it would nudda far to the right of the screen, but that there is something there.
överskärmen also has a minor defect, in which it looks like that it would press on the screen, although nothing is there .. it creates a strange effect on the screen, which is very hard to play with,
it is lit when a little stronger imitten of the screen and it looks not so good in fact.

It would be a great pity that even this would break .. especially after the warranty period.
these defects are a little more difficult to show in the store (especially because they are not always seen / felt, and so I do not know if one only damaged the case hinges on the guarantee ..)
the shop is also in a different city, so it also makes it difficult to find out things also ..


I am doubtful if I will buy a new nintendo product after this .. if I do not get it fixed / exchanged.
(preferably exchanged, when it touched on reperation earlier, for a okalibrerbar touch screen .. and a great many components appear to be defective,
so it would be easier for both you / Nintendo and me to get a new unit, and also overcome reperationer .. to say nothing of the show you want to help your consumers and demonstrate good service.)
I have bought so many duplicates now because of broken units .. (I have among other things 1 DS original, and 2 DS Lite ..)

I wonder how willing Nintendo / Bergsala is to replace my unit, which has had such defects from the start, namely manufacturing.
when it is more recent than 1 year (also left the receipt of course), should be no problem.

I own Nintendo-electronic products of all are the Game & Watch, the Wii, now can I see if the DS Lite will be the last, for a long time.
