I wouldn't use a paperclip, I did on mine and it got all scratched up.
Just use a wire to make contact with pin 10 and make it ground on the rail.
If you use a power wire (a little bit thicker) the wire will touch pin 10 and also the rail. The key is pin 10, pin 1 not so much.

EDIT: A molex wire is also perfect for this.

Tutorial

Step one: Ensure that the paperclip isn't coated with an insulator.

Step two: Make good contact with pin 10 using one end of the paperclip. Bend the paperclip so that the other end touches ground. You could use pin 1 or the center screw on the joy-con rail.

I tried with a wire and it worked like a charm.
BTW I also tried with a solder but I couldn't make it work, probably because it's too thin.

Fold-roll a piece of paper and slide it into the joy-con slot for extra support. That way you don't have to deal with the nuances of moving it around so much. Also, ~1/4 inch gap between each end of the paper clip. Though, as suggest by @jaysea, you might want to use something that won't potentially damage your contacts.
