A video game that has been likened to child pornography is to be pulled from the shelves after having its classification revoked.

The Classification Board originally gave the Nintendo 3DS fighting game Dead Or Alive: Dimensions a child-friendly PG rating.

But the board was forced to reconsider the rating after media reports brought some risque content to its attention - namely the ability to look up the skirts of scantily clad teenage characters.

The board asked Nintendo to advise it why the classification should not be revoked but was not satisfied with the response.

The game is now officially unclassified, meaning it cannot be sold in Australia unless Nintendo resubmits it for a new classification.

Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor welcomed the decision.

"The material in this game is clearly not appropriate to be played by children," Mr O'Connor said in a statement.

"I am pleased the Classification Board took swift action to address community concerns."

The game - the latest in a long-running series of combat games featuring big-breasted female warriors - was also pulled from sale in Europe.
Nintendo could not be contacted for comment.[/p]

OK, what the hell? Kasumi maybe flashes a bit of leg on a high kick. How is that porn? She's fully clothed, not in any sort of compromising position, the sound effects aren't even remotely sexual in nature, even the jiggle physics are downplayed on the younger characters. What is the world coming to? 'Cause I can tell you for a fact it ain't this.

Another country misses out on what's probably the best 3DS game out at the moment because of stupidity. Kids these days are messed up. They're either too over-protected by parents and politicians who think everyone and everything is a paedophile until proven otherwise, or they're totally ignored and left to ruin their lives and everyone else's like that crazy bitch who tried to kill her baby in the news topic kicking around here. Is there no middle ground? Are there no normal kids any more? What happened to today's youth? They're turning into chavs, goths, emos, parents and unemployable idiots. Let's be honest, if that's the future of our species, we're fucked.

As far as I'm aware you can't even put them in swimsuits in Dimensions. I can understand a reaction to DOA Paradise on PSP, or the Extreme Beach Volleyball series, which is basically just ogling the girls in even skimpier outfits than usual. But none of these features are present in DOA Dimensions. Yeah, you can potentially get a brief glimpse of panties during battle or using the Model Viewer. But how is that extreme enough to justify this? The girls are all wearing panties. There's NOTHING sexual about it. Hell, you can catch a glimpse of panties in pretty much any game ever released involving girls. You gonna ban them all, Australia?

I mean really, it just sounds like they wanted and searching for a reason to ban.

They don't want them to have any games.

I think the reason this was pulled is because it's on 3DS, a device mainly aimed at younger kids while PSP is mainly aimed at teenagers and up.
Also, DOA is one of the first releases so it's out in broad view to everyone whereas if it was around #500 no one would even care.

I'm not saying I agree though, I would have turned out a much better child if I was exposed to jigging bosoms

Does Australia even have such a strict 'censorship'?

It doesn't seem that way when I last went there for a holiday...

Maybe they should do their job right next time. I hope Nintendo can and does sue for the losses incurred due to the classifications boards incompetence. Man they sound almost as bad as the USPTO. Either totally unfit for purpose or just too lazy to do the job right and knowing they can charge for reclassification every time they decide they got the classification wrong.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's also banned in the Middle East, since it's no where in sight -_-

Shit ass mentality of people, they are willing to show Hangover Part II in the cinemas without any censorship, and a game which doesn't even have a slight view of a nipple is...banned? Wow. This world is retarded.

I'm sure if it had a mature rating or a rating close to that on it, it would be accepted. Which is kinda sad.
