...a HorizonOS update that actually brings new features now that the Switch successor has been announced? Ofc Nintendo is going to try and block homebrew for quite some time by pushing updates, but personally I doubt that they will ever release another update that brings actually meaningful content that's not an update to the banned word list.

once the new switch is out the old switch will be abandoned just like they have done in the past with everything else. online will be shut down and you will be forced to re-buy all your games all over again!

We haven't had new features for the entire life span of the Switch. Why on Earth would they start now?
The only new feature we're likely to see, is a system transfer to Switch 2.

Nintendo will swear up and down that Switch will be the second pillar to Switch 2, but yeah they will abandon it within 12 months of Switch 2 release. It'll still get some ports for years to come, maybe a few AAA games because of how many Switches are out there, but Nintendo always abandons the old platform.
