I've started keeping a dream journal ever since I read an article on lucid dreaming. Do you guys have one? If so, and if you're also trying to lucid dream, does it actually help?

I've read about lucid dreaming, but have yet to try.

The closest I come is grabbing a video camera and recording myself talking about it when I wake up.

    Not really.

At one point lucid dreaming really interested me, but I realized in the end it'd be terrible. Controlling my dreams to do what I want only to wake up with disappointment would just be pretty shitty. It's like when you have an excellent dream, wake up, and realize "That wasn't real".

Most of the times my dreams are either forgotten or non-existent. Those that I do remember are somehow incredibly cryptic and important though. They push me to shape the world of my dreams to be in my real world.

No, but I usually remember most of my dreams nowadays.
You made me want to have one.
Maybe I'll do it on GBATemp's Blog Section [IMG].

    Not enough choices. lol
I don't and don't think it's weird- it's kinda cool and interesting, really.
I'd probably first keep a normal journal, though.

Thing is, I've read enough about lucid dreaming to be interested in it for a bit, but I really don't like the 'lucid dreaming culture', and I think that's what has mainly turned me off.
And by lucid dreaming culture, I generally(as in not everyone) mean people who lack a real social life, so they put effort into their dreams to do fulfill some dumb fantasies, instead of making an effort in real life. And that leads a lot of them to ignore their waking life and focus around their dream world. Then they grow have have these delusional beliefs, and act as if no one else understands them. Bleh.

But yeah, seen that too much, and have personally just grown sick of it.

I keep a journal that has dreams in it.
I don't try to lucid dream but I occasionally do. I don't toy with them though, because it always breaks the consciousness when I change things out of desire or amusement.

Honestly, I used to "try" to lucid dream when I was an adolescent, but I found astral projection way more interesting.
I don't practice astral projection, I did it once successfully in an experiment with three other people (that I had never met IRL) in remote locations from me back in 1998. It was a life changing experience and I don't desire to do it again. It was a positive experience for the most part, but the experience I had was powerful enough that I would not wish to repeat it.
As for my dreams that I've journaled, they're not all so easy to find. But the important ones are in my LJ at tornspacetime.com. I haven't tagged them all and some of them might be in friends-only entries though.

Most of my dreams are horrific nightmares. Would rather not be reminded of them in paperback.

    Nope.
I was thinking of doing so when I got interested in lucid dreams.
