The time I have available on the laptop is usually limited, plus it takes the damn thing a while to recognise my SD adapter (the slot's got some sort of spring loose of some crap) so if I'm shifting files around on my Cyclo cards I'll download them all in one shot because it might be a while before I get another chance.

I try not to download multiple things at once.
I play online games while I download shit, usually. Don't wanna lag.

Saturating your connection will just make it take longer overall. Download a few at a time for best results (most torrent clients will already be setup to only accept x amount of connections at once. faster your net, the more it will be, same for usenet; if you have a decent provider any more than a few threads are a waste of time & ftp, well likelihood is gonna be that a single download will be faster than your net can manage.).

When I`m home I normally just download one at a time with full speed but when I know, that I won`t be at home for several hours I just download everything I need parallel...

So it depends!

If I'm downloading from a server, the download speed is usually capped and way below my connection speed, so I stack a few downloads at once, if possible (all hail Mediafire for allowing simultaneous downloads for free users).

Not sure if the definition of multiple applies to me. I use newsgroups, and while I can que up several gigs of data in a stream to download, I guess it is all occurring in sequence, not all at once.

I fail to see the point of trying to get say 10 things at once if the process only means all 10 will still only appear 10 times slower. I can only get so much bandwidth speed out of my service after all. 1 file at max speed 1 at a time is hardly a problem eh.
