Hacking Do 3DS games require FW update?

In the future yes they will require a FW update. Think of it like the Wii and how all the big new popular titles need a system/firmware update.

Pretty much. And we'll be seeing lots of threads asking if it's safe to update etc. which is deja vu all over again like the Wii boards. But it's a new experience so it will be interesting.

This is a game you're going to have to get used to, the age of a single hack (hardware or software) being the end all be all has come and gone.

it will probably be like the 360, where the fw that was current when any given game went gold is the minimum firmware required to run the game. obviously launch titles wouldn't have this, so right now the number of games requiring updates is relatively small.

that being said, at least many of the hacks of today are easier than the hacks of yesterday. i'd take the current generation of mods over modding a psx or saturn any day of the week
