If it can be patched server side there's literally no reason to hold it, seems like you're just trying to imitate other exploits which get held privately. The reason people don't publish entry points and vulnerabilities right away is so that they don't get patched in future system updates (or hardware revisions) and after all is set and done there are more exploitable system versions. Here the exploit will only be around for a set time frame regardless of when you release it, assuming it can be patched server side like you seem to be implying.

I think he's just wanting to let the community know there might be a way. Unless... No...
I think he's trying to inject himself into the scene and drive self-promotion without seeming like that guy. He's just stirring the pot. If there were TRULY a reason to hold off on releasing this because he wanted to check with other devs first, he wouldn't have said anything, or better yet, SHOULDN'T have said anything. Everything about this is wrong.

Eh. I'm still curious. Always will be, I spose.

Dont forget the youtube channel advertising. Twice.

Here is how I see it - pessimistically (because all the stuff about keeping the conversation positive, got me miffed.. ;) ).

Dude has a youtube channel and two Switches. Mystery solved. ;)

Less pessimistic -

- Dude has faked some signatures/packets to make N's servers think that this his switch is on a current firmware. This is entirely patchable going forward - question is how fast-

- Dude has potentially not thought of the repercussions of "updates being signed for a minimum firmware version". If there is no second check after download and before install, this method could seriously mess up existing game installations/configurations. Devs push patches for "firmware x and higher" its important to keep that in mind as well. It all doesnt "just work" for every prior firmware (/future prior firmware). Prerequisites are a thing.

Exactly. Lord hold back the gates of hell should you call him out on his bullshit. You'll have flak from every which side.

lmao if y'all can wait on TX's chip and bet your money on it, it doesn't hurt to give this guy the benefit of the doubt.
If he's lying, you're not losing anything :ha:
If he's telling the truth, you might get benefited from it. :moogle:
Just get on with your day and come back later on if you're interested. :creep:

only slightly off topic, my memory is not great but did I read something that if you have 2 Switch's you can transfer game update's from one Switch to the other or is that just for profiles/saves ? I might have been imagining it, so don't yell

Both switches need to be on the same firmware for a transfer

Yes, local version match, so you can play multiplayer in LAN mode without Internet access and ensure everyone got the same version. But that does not require you to update the FW as well?
