Hacking Disc Read Errors...

I didnt buy the software. I was referring to the new burner and discs that i bought. Anyway...ive just burnt smooth moves at 8X on the pioneer with verbs and exactly the same result.Â

 Im seroiusly considering selling off my remaining Wiinja's and forgetting the whole thing untill a properly managed and tested solution emerges.

There is nothing untested or improperly managed here. You are just having bad luck or have a problem with your process.
Are your burners set in DMA mode and not PIO?
Do you have any other device on the same IDE cable?
Are you using the burners in a USB enclosure?
Have you tried the same discs in another Wii? Yours may have trouble reading all discs but is only showing with burned media.
Perhaps you have faulty burners or poor batches of media, unlikely but possible.
Can you quality scan the burned discs?

So many things can still be causing the problems you are having. Try another chip in another Wii if you can.

Again I wish you luck and remember that many others with very similar setups are having success. Don't give up.

Do you have any other device on the same IDE cable? Usually have both writers on one IDE but ive tried burning with one on its own

Curious, has anyone tried a DvdInfoPro CRC Read Error Test on their suspect discs yet? I'd be interested to see if discs with reported DRE's are picked up with this test.

Could still be a flakey batch of media, not very likely but possible

You can try a transfer rate benchmark test in NERO CD/DVD Speed (in the NERO tools) but if you can get to a PC with a Liteon or BENQ DVD-RW in it you can do a more complete quality scan with the disc quality test in NERO CD/DVD Speed

Try it

You can burn Wii Isos with every DVD-Writer. Some Burner / Disc combination work better, some not and some don't work.

Every Wii drive is going to have slightly different factory settings. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another. It is best to try different media types and burn speeds until you find the combination that works best for you. I've seen many solid reports for Verbatim -R discs so try those first.

Hmmmm more interesting developments. I chipped a freinds Wii today and the discs that are giving me constant DRE's on my console are working fine on his. My console is an LEH108xxx and his is an LEH105xxx. I will do more testing tonight when i get home from work and post results. This is looking more and more like we are going to need some sort of laser tweaking on DRE machines. Is there any info on pot teaking for the wii yet? I wonder if like the xbox 360's the Wii have differant drive manufacturers or models.

P.s also...his machine has never been connected to the net and has not been updated, were as mine is 2.1E.

try 1x burn on the best media you have. make sure toy close out all running apps. do not mess with the pc while it burns, also turn of any screensavers. See if this help.

try 1x burn on the best media you have. make sure toy close out all running apps. do not mess with the pc while it burns, also turn of any screensavers. See if this help.

i dont do anything when burning, buffer level is always at 100%.
lowest speed i can burn at is 4x. tried 8x and 16x too, and all medias i have.

Same here. I presume you have seen that Wiinja has released a chip that helps with DRE's so there may be help on the way

well installed 2 cylcowiz chips today. one on a dms and one on a d2a chipset. using the pioneer 111d flashed to 111L Arita DVD+R media. burned with clone cd at 8x works fine on the dms chipset and doesnt work on the d2a. Just fyi game was excite truck ntsc usa

also forgot to mention i burned the same game before i flashed my drive over to the 111L on exact same media and it didnt work. Hope this helps others out

Have you tried it with DVD+R and setting the booktype?
