The file you want to replace is 0000001.app. Just rename the 000000c.app to it and replace it. Wad unpackers will always call it 00000000.app, 00000001.app, ... no idea why. I personally used wadmii from the wii.cs tools for the job btw.

will try that out and post my results here, that was a fast reply. ü thanks FIX94.

success! whew... I spent my whole morning researching and thinking how to do step 4, once again, thanks FIX94 for the help, I should've just asked here 1st before doing everything on my own. ü

I don't trust large 3rd party cards. I would buy a smaller card, even if it would cost double.

Does this new MIOS interfere with Swiss at all? I'd like to give DML a spin but I've been playing a lot of GameCube games through Swiss lately and would like to be able to without replacing MIOS each time.

Right now it's either MIOS, or cMIOS for NeoGamma and Swiss, or Waninkoko's cMIOS for backups from disc channel, or WiiGator's cMIOS with integrated loader for NeoGamma, Swiss and backups from disc channel or DML. Since i got a ton of new problems right now, i can't wok on DML with retail disc support. Once that is done, it might be possible to use the DML MIOS wad to use as base in my cMIOS installer.

Will there be a DIOS MIOS (minus the "Lite"), or will this project focus on sneek setups only?

Doesn't DIOS MIOS also require Sneek+DI? Anyways, right now DML works in NeoGamma, with video mode problems. But once NeoGamma wrote the boot.bin to sd card, you can launch any GC game in the disc channel to boot DML with the selected game.

PS: I repeat: The breakthrough was Crediar's work!

OK. I'm a little clueless at the moment, so I'll wait until things shape up a little more. However, I'm very excited about this.
One burning question for you though:
Games running in Swiss have significant audio problems for me, where the sound hangs for a second or two when loading new models or textures. Also, Mario Kart DD shows shadows on the tracks from overhead objects, which does not occur on the real game.
Does DML have the potential of running the game smoother, or are those issues related to the fact that the games are loaded from an SD card and are likely to be a challenge for DML as well?

Hey, after I cobbled up that banner (from others' graphical work), I realized the "Gamecube Discs" title is a little clunky. You can use CustomizeMii to change that to whatever you want. I've since changed mine to "Gamecube Channel", which seems more inline with official Wii philosophy.

If anyone wants a guide to get started without using Sneek+di, I'll show you how I did it. This guide assumes you have a working knowledge of how everything works besides modifying the Mios wad correctly.

Step 1: Follow the steps to get the patched app file as shown in the readme.
Step 2: Download Show Mii Wads and unpack the Mios V10 wad. You can download this wad using NUS downloader.
Step 3: Replace the 00000001.app in the files you extracted with Show Mii Wads with the 000000c.app you got earlier.
Step 4: Pack the wad using Show Mii Wads.
Step 5: Download the newest Neogamma from Filetrip and put it on your SD card.
Step 7: Install the modified Mios wad you made to your real nand.
Step 8: In Neogamma, change the boot method to "Load games with DML" and you're good to go.

If you're unsure of how to get games in the proper format, look at a guide from the Sneek+di version of DML and that should get you started. To be honest, this method of loading Gamecube games is much easier and nicer than it was with the initial version of DML.

Thank you Tonitonichopchop. A final wad of 219328 bytes is what we should expect ?

Is NeoGamma actually working for somebody? I only get video mode problems with it. Or could it be that NTSC is working fine, while PAL is causing trouble?

Yeah, works fine for me. I tested both Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Mario Kart Double Dash and had zero issues. I'm using a NTSC Wii + television though so it might be PAL that's causing you issues.

Did you ever try what I suggested in the NeoGamma thread?

Yep, no change at all with the latest libogc, libfat and devkitppc combo, but it was worth trying, thanks.

Thank you for the steps you outlined above.
When you say Double Dash has zero issues, does that mean no sound hiccups or slowdowns at all?
Is the game running in progressive scan for you?
Do you see shadows in the tracks?
I'll try for myself, but want to make sure those issues, which I've experienced with Swiss, are not particular to my SD card or overall setup.

Seems like it, my pal games just give me some wrong video mode issue, but twilight princess ntsc-j booted up fine.

There is mild lag on the menus, but in game it's flawless. I'm not sure if it runs in progressive scan. I can check later though. And what kind of Shadows are you talking about? If it's something really obvious then I didn't notice anything. The game looked and played the same way it would by disc.

Thanks for the feedback.
The shadow issue I'm talking about (with Swiss), is pretty obvious.
You see shadows in the tracks from the clouds and other overhead objects. I'm pretty familiar with the game, so I noticed this immediately in Luigi Circuit. I then put the game disc on and verified the shadows do not occur with the real game.

Also, MKDD was not the worst for audio issues. In Soul Calibur II, the sound would stutter horribly when loading the character models in the select screen.

Mario Kart Double Dash PAL runs perfectly fine here, no issues just the regular menu slowdowns. Not even sound errors!
