Physically most of the time I can, unless the game is cheaper digital or is digital-only. Example, Minecraft; it was around $25 AUD digitally on sale on the eshop last year, while physical was $40 AUD. I already wanted Minecraft for the switch and this sealed the deal because I wasn't going to spend $40 on a game I already own 6 copies of.
But sometimes I still miss a digital sale because I want a game physically. Saints Row 4 was $41 AUD digitally, and $50 AUD physically, I kinda regret not buying it, but I'll wait for it to go cheaper either physically or digitally.
