Hello! I haven't used my R4 in like 4-5 years, and somehow I found it not working. I tried following guides by RetroGameFan and also tried? finding my kernel online but I don't know if i'm finding the wrong one or if my kernel exists anymore.

Here is a picture for reference. If anyone is able to help I would really appreciate it because i don't want to lose all my progress on all my .SAV files for all my games.

You should download https://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/flashcart-files/download-wood-r4-1-62-f32256.html and extract the files to the MicroSD card (so that you have a folder called _rpg and a .dat file on your SD card).
It's not an original R4, so Wood probably won't work.

There are a bunch of kernels for two different "R4 Upgrade" carts here, try them both: https://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

It is an original R4. But I found the mistake. Original R4 cards don't work with SD cards bigger than 2GB. He needs a smaller MicroSD.
i had this 4 gb sd card working before, i definitely had all my games on there to be over 2 gb and working. so doesthat make it a clone?

No, it is not. The original R4 doesn't say "Upgrade" on it. R4 Upgrade does support SDHC.
Yeah sorry, I missed that. I edited my previous post.
To OP: wood won't work with it. But you can try to find a kernel on the linfox page jdbye posted or maybe the kernel from r4i-sdhc.com works.
